I have a lightweight odyssey battery with one 15 foot 4 gauge wire and 2 feet of negitive cable.

This seems like a no brainer but Im really stuck on this crap. First of all I found two wires coming out of the positive cable and they lead to the starter? Am I sopose to relocate my 4 gauge from the alternator to the batter? Or does this cable go to the fuse box? If so do I take out the one thats already in thier? Lots of ?s but it just doesent make sense to me. Thnx for the help.

why would they only give u 2 feet of negative wire?

 

umm, I used less then that you will probably need more then 15' of posative though.

cut off the battery termanal so you have both wires there, go buy a stereo disturbuter block. which will have a 4 gauge hole on one side, and 4 8 gauge holes in the othere side.. and hook them together.

 

u just ground the negative then, im assuming since u only give so little. What did u use to ground it? Scott u of all people don't have a write up on this?

That kind of leaves me with a ?. They said the fuse box to the starter. Well do I have to do that?

Another ? is thiers two wires going from the starter to the positive like weve mentioned but cant I just use one wire for that instead of using a splitting distrubitor thing? Thiers no reason to have two right?

 

from the battery. one wire goes to the starter (bigger one), and one goes to the fuse block.

Am I the only one who cares about safety here??? Standard wet cell car bats need to be vented somehow so they dont explode. Hydrogen leaks out of them (slowly). Hydrogen will also turn your blood cells (oxegen) into water (H2O) and could kill you if you inhale too much.

Make sure you used a battery designed for sealed space such as an optima yellow, dry cell, gell cell, or maybe a marine battery would work. Make sure the battery doesnt emit 2H.

An alternative to relocatnig the battery could be to use a smaller (Honda Civic) battery under the hood. Tis what I will do if the fmic gets in the way of the battery.

 

I was planning on relocating the battery to the very back where the spare is (gel cell of course).

 

good thing i got a mini dry cell. Im kinda of worried about this battery dying on my though, this will be a street driven car, thats why. Guess i will see, just swap in a regular battery if it don't work too well.

 

the odyssey batterys (as listed) are sealed dry cell. but all batteries should be sealed and vented... the gel cells (red / yellow tops) can still leak. they have 2 vents right in the top. the dry cells are much better and probably wouldn't.

 

I already said I have a odysey battery wich is about a 15lb Gel battery. I dont think I will have a problem.
