I change my plugs about once a year. But I drive the car quite a lot which tends to keep plugs clean.

Generally once a year should be fine for most people. If you make a load of short trips and the car never warms up, then it will take a far greater toll on your plugs.

Pull a leading and trailing plug and then examine them. If they have sooty black deposits and you are sure the car is running correctly, it may be worth considering dropping down a heat range.

Stock NA?Use stock NGK spark plugs, mid to highly modified turbo cars or NAs running nitrous or some exotic port job that is when you get into heat range, for now replace them with factory plugs.
Why you have a fuel pump switch?tired motor, leaky injectors? You should look in to that.

some cars burn through plugs quicker than others. i usually change my leadings about every 10k miles and the trailings once every 20k.

A crate motor is just a block.

I usually change them around 10k. This last time I waited until about 12k, and one of the leading plugs had almost no electrode left. I was wondering why I'd get an occasional puff of smoke on cold starts.
