how much would you pay?
Hey everybody, I'm going to sell my 87 gxl. I was wondering how much i could expect to sell if for. It has a new engine with approx. 30,000 miles. New injectors, new driveshaft (custom made with replaceable U-joints), new spark plugs/wires, fuel filter, and 4 new tires. Has sony explodes in the back infinitys in the doors, and off brand speakers in under the dash, (cd player got stolen). 106,103 miles on original engine. I'm
also including alot of extra parts- upper intake manifold, throttle body, dynamic chamber, 4 extra fuel injectors, oil pan, head light, idiot lights, steering wheel surround, and other misc. parts.
Things wrong with car, power steering pump is f'ed, the odometer doesnt work because the 3rd and 4th numbers melted together (from sun), minor rust on 2 wheel wells and sunroof. and then the killer, why I got the car for 1000$ when i bought it....the previous owner spun out and the back end hit a light pole. so the back end looks kinda crappy, its been bondoed over and stuff, but not repainted (could look alot worse).
I don't want to sell if for any less than 2500, because I spent i dont even know how many hours fixing this thing, putting new engine in (that cost me 1200$), etc. Oil has been changed every 2500 miles or sooner since i bought it.

Only the imaculate cars end up making you money. Everything else is a labor of love only.
Rxmfn7 is right, for fair/poor condition body with a low miles Series IV NA engine $1500 is about it.
I'm looking at the same problem in selling my 929 for $2500. To get it into "good/excellent" condition "on da' cheap" is going to require me learning autopaint, leather seat repair/leather panel replacement, shocks, new engine gaskets, repair rear power locks, fix sticking window's track & attached weather stripping, etc.. And that's NOT fixing the worn engine & tranny mounts, worn bushings, tightening up the steering, etc..
