Thumbs up How Much Would U Pay

I own a 88 FC3S Turbo II with 85000 original miles. Car is immaculate. I just put Toyo Proxes and new rear struts. My oil coolant lines were leaking replaced them and oil metering pump. Added NGk spark plugs, K&N air filter, NGK plug wires. Adds up to about 2500 in costs and labor. How much should i expect to recieve.

Well, it is a stock S4..180hp max. So, for such low mileage, I would go no more than $3k. There is no real demand for anything before 1989. But, if you sell it to someone who knows these cars, I think $3-$3.5k is more than fair.

Any fuel mods? If not, she's gonna lean out and detonate. Knowing that, I would bump my estimate down.

With a free flowing exhaust and air filter, you are pushing the boost up, while the fuel map may be more aggressive due to the chip, I would not trust it to keep the top end from leaning out, and detonating, thereby blowing a apex seal. Not enough fuel + Boost = BOOM

Wallin, i could have sworn your car had way more than 85k on it. is that the motor? or the chasis. I thought it was like 300k on it. As you can see i live in WI and have heard much about that car. 250 sounds maybe about right but i am pretty sure he did no fuel mods what so ever. By fuel he means Bigger fuel pump, upgrade your injectors to like 720cc injectors, a fuel pressure regulator, or a boost controler. I don't think that matt did any of that. I would check your compression to give you an idea where the motor is at. but personally i don't think that you'll get too much for it. maybe ask 3000 but don't expect that much.

No fuel mods, it's only a SHORT matter of time before you hear "bang, clang, grunt, boom." If you stand behind it when it does that, you get to see little chunks of cast iron rattle out of the tail pipe!!

But fuel mods are cheap, so I think ask $3k, but expext $2.5k.

$5000? Whoa buddy. No offense but good luck getting that much. I am not looking for a car, just giving you my opinion. Ok, first mods take away from the value of a car. Second, you car is not a bank, you don't invest all this money in it and then expect to get it all back. Third, I paid $1400 for my TII. Just some thoughts for ya.

Anything before 89, no matter if it flies, will never get more than $3k for it, unless it has like 400hp. Sorry, but I did a quote for my car, and with all it's body damage, my 91 gets $3,124 from www.kbb.com. But it is a 91, and no one will ever pay that much. There is no market for 86-88 RX-7 TIIs. It's not a Honduh....kids don't want it. Sorry man...

Yeah... sorry little wallin, i hope you dont have your heart set on too much... i got somebody who'll give ya $4,000 ... but even thats generous... have ryan give you my number and we'll talk. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. (BTW... the 'reciepts' for repairs? because if they are, you can't add them to blue book to get an accurate price, because blue book is blue book and unless the reciepts put it up a notch on their condition rating, well, you should've put the money into it... not just to sell it)

Blue Book is jst some ripoff, and really doesnt matter other than to make people buying pay more.

There is another source that banks use to determine whether they should give a loan to a person for certain cars. This is the definitive source for what value really is .. the trouble is that I cant remember what it is called. Anyone know?

The two most used guides are Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds.&nbsp You can bitch all you want about it being a rip-off, but these are industry standards.

Dreaming if you think a series 4 T2 will pull over $3.5K by private party.

Maybe if it was less than 60K miles or didn't have the mods (read Bone stock).

But maybe you'll get lucky, maybe there are no other RX-7 Turbo II's in your part of the country.

Bone Stock is critical... what would you guys pay for an '88 w/ 34K BONE STOCK... I'm picking one up this summer... black w/ black leather, factory fogs, etc... absolutly mint. runs/looks PERFECT. Lemme know what you think.

(he actually has 34K miles worth of gas milage records, so I'm pretty sure he was very up to date with maintainance)

I have about the same question as Cap'nWankel. I'm looking at a blue Turbo II right now, and it reportedly has 24,000 miles on it...but the used car dealer wants $7995 (fancy-talk for $8000). How much is it really worth?
