good thing they're not reciprocating huh?
wish someone made rotors out of something other than cast iron.

12A = 1.2 litres
20B = 2.0 litres
26B = 2.6 litres (its the 4 rotor race engine..)
edit: damn i was so excited to post what the As and Bs actually mean, but now i totally forgot.. so i can only post the displacement numbers..

had the same displacement just different different design.? ok so i guess i mist have been completly not sober when i read this..
is there a site that explains all this or where you got your information from?

I think 12A's were 1150cc. "A" means the rotors are 70mm wide, "B" means they were 80mm wide. They have never changed the epitrochoid (sp?) shape since they made the engine, they just keep making the rotors wider.
I was asking if the 787B's rotors were lightened. I know they are the same size as 13b rotors, but were there any special things done? Even higher CR? Less Weight?

A=Carbuerated
B=Fuel injected
Racing beat has rotors that weigh 8.7 pounds.
Check out there website. The cost a little over 2 grand for the pair.

now if only i had a million dollars.. then i wouldnt have to worry about taking such a shot to the wallet..
i was reading that pretty well the only hindering unit keeping a rotary from spinning faster (higher rpm) is the rotors and their weight
anyone know what mods its takes to safely spin faster than 10,000 rpm? from what ive read, i would make an educated guess that you may be able to come close to this number just by using those rotors..
can anyone clear this up for me?

You would have to have the rotors clearanced. Check Atkins Rotary, Racing Beat, or Mazdatrix. One of those sites, if not all of them will explain what this does. It can be done to regular rotors. If you plan on racing your car and you will be hanging out in the 10,000RPM range a lot, you will want a higher oil pressure regulator, the stronger heat treated stationary gears, the bearings in the stationary gears that allow more oil to lube them, and you will want a scatter shield for your clutch. They have been known to come apart and go through floor boards and injure people.

The A and the B have nothing to do with the fuel system, it's all about the design of the engine.
They should make a "C" engine. Would it be 14C or 15C? I wonder what kind of torque/hp that would make? It would probably be pretty good, didn't the 12a have like 100 ft/lbs, and the 13b have about 140 ft/lbs?

right rotary>piston, they actualy made a 4 port 13b engine somewhere in late 70, no way those engines were f-i.
and about the le mans car,
think about it, you have big sponsors, big budget, and u gotta win races against piston engines. will u buy 2 or 3 s5 13b engine, and stick them together, do a big porting and stuff like that, hell no
if i was to build a engine like the one in the 787b, i wouldnt stay with street designed rotor, and neither street designed compression ratio level, think about it..
the car is probably reving way higher than 10k, and the car probably do more hp than two stock viper sticked together
