How much 4 a 90 gtus
My neighbor has a 90 gtus that has been sitting 4 about 6-7 years and i have been bugging him to sell it since the day i seen it. He finally gave in and said he would sell it 4 $1000 bucks with a full mazda manual. Now the bad stuff needs paint, brake work, what ever the CEL is throwing, and some other minor things. The goods are new apex seal with less than 1000 miles, bone stock, and it start right up and idles fine. IS THIS WORTH IT? oh yeah its got 123 thousand miles on it
You haven't told us the whole story, but regardless of what the rest of the details are, I'd say yeah that's a deal.
Of course if it's been sitting outdoors in a field in PA for the past 6-7 years exposed to the elements, you might find you're going to just end up parting it out, but if the engine is running and has decent compression, you can probably make way more than $1000 for the parts you scavenge off it.
If your plan is to drive it, make sure you inspect it closely for rust. If you have to replace the floorboards and significant sections of the body, you might be smart to find a clean shell and swap over all the GTUs goodies to that. The rustier everything is, the harder it will be to free up frozen fasteners, etc.
Post some pictures and let us know how it turns out.

Make sure its actually a GTUs before you go buy it. The GTUs model should have a limited slip rear end (their will be 11 lines going down the back of the diff instead of 9 on a open diff) and no sunroof.

6-7 years on a rebuild is actually quite new considering most j-specs you order online are original 40-90k motors pulled from 20 year old cars. Do you even want to guess how long those motors were sitting in a warehouse before they got shipped to someone? 6-7 years with 1000 miles on the seals doesn't sound bad to me at all.

Better then a J-Spec engine does not mean its a good engine. It just means its better then a J-Spec.
Sitting for an extended period of time is bad for ANY engine because fluids and oils are not going around the engine providing lubrication as designed. Seals do dry out because of this. The good news is if the soft seals go, that's probably the only thing that needs to be replaced. But it still requires tearing down the engine.
Of course having said that, I bought my car that sat for 10 years and drove it for a good length of time before it finally busted. The oil control seals were bad the whole time the motor ran though.
