How many miles on your TII? Stock/Mods

I am trying to get an Idea, the life expectancy of the tII. Mine has 112,000 miles on it and I ran into a bit of a dilemma. I ran into some stuff really cheap, Microtech, BOV, Boostcontroler, and a few other things. I’ve already have intake and a down pipe. So my question is how long will my motor last will all these mods, being the age it is. Keep in mind that the first 70,000 miles it was a midlife crisis car. So it was babied. Thanks

my TII engine lasted 82K miles.
Of course in the last 8000 miles or so it was probably beat on more than it ever has been in its entire life.

My 88 Turbo2 had ~140k on, and ran pretty well, although was starting to loose compression, and have some flooding issues.

Probably like 15k on the rebuild now, and like 120k on the car.

Is that on the original motor? If so how long have you had the mods, and what type of power are you putting out.

If you're still on the stock fuel system, you're on the edge of disaster already. (Personal experience)

Your motor is like the 80 year old guy that suddenly decides to run a marathon.
A compression test will tell you how much life it has before a rebuild is needed.

If you want to boost more, start with a fuel pump rewire and upgrade the pump.

Ive got a fd pump im putting in, and a aftermarket FPR (because it was cheaper than the stock replacement). Ill have to do a search on the rewire. Not sure whats invalved.

My motor went at 138K, still ran good, but lost a part of the water jacket in the front iron housing during an overheating event and started sucking coolant... would have last a lot longer if I would have noted the rats nest between the radiator and the A/C heat exhanger..

yup, original motor. The mods went on at around 165-170k miles. I have no clue what kinda power i'm putting out. Never had it dynoed. But i'm having strange oil leaks i can't track down. Seems liek oil is blowing all over the hood and alternator from the water pump shaft but i don't think that's possible. Oh well. =\

DO you still have your vac spider? Check the vac line from the TID to the pipe you put the oil in. Theres a line that goes to those two spot. I don’t have that line( I removed the vac spider) and I had to make a catch can to catch the oil. But that’s on the right side of the motor. But that line runs by the water pump and alternator.

I just did the fuel pump rewire and don't let it scare you. Just sit down one saturday and take a look at nzconvertables diagram. Once you look at it long enough it starts making sence and is easily done. Good luck and it is a must!!!
