I guess it's one of those things you have to experience first hand before you decide that you should have a summer/winter car.

I saw it happen on a car of mine during winter a few years back, and, as Aaron mentioned, I decided to have a winter beater from that point on.

 

I've got my 311k mile Integra to get around in when the weather is crappy. It is good to be able to save the FC for having fun with and nothing else.

 

I do, but this is in Fl. Worst it gets is around 50 degrees at night.

I drove my vert last winter, but now that I finally completed my TII swap my 85 Bronco II gets me through the winter. It ain't pretty, but it works in the snow!

 

I drive my stock N/A FC through all the seasons, but a TII with a 6 puck clutch is a different story. the engagement would be to hard and sudden for a slippery road.

 

I can't stand not driving the car. If it rusts out I'll buy another one, they're relatively cheap. In the mean time oil spraying, preventativbe car washes and preventative rust removal should keep it going for a while.

 

I plan to drive mine... I'm gonna get winter tires mounted on stock rims and just drive it unless it snows like a foot I'll just wash it more frequently.

 

there is currently about 3 inches of snow and about a two inch layer of ice under that on everyroad im 18 and very poor i =have no chioc but to drive my 87 turbo II in the snow it is not fun if you care about your car you can be the best driver and the jerk off behind you locked up his brakes and hits you i wish i had a beater find a POS 500$ car for winter then ditch it when sumnmer comes but snow in an rx7 isnt fun unless you know what your doin and not afraid of it

Paid $450 for it, and figure I can replace it for about that, so I would rather someone hit me in that, than in my truck.

i drive my rx7's in the winter but i also live in vegas so it makes no difference...

 

We don't really get a lot of snow here, but we get sick amounts of rain and I drive my FC year-round. My wife says it's kinda squirrely in the rain, but it seems pretty well planted to me.

warning.. long story!

my TII has the mods listed below and has about 40% tread on tired and drives fine in normal conditions. this weekend i went out to kansas city (3 hour drive) and brought my TII because it has too dark of tint and no cats, and wont pass inspection here.. but a place there will pass it. so i went to a wedding and brought my car. after i got there, fri night it snowed.. sat morning it was still snowing.. about 4 inches total.. not bad snow. the place i was taking my car wasnt real far away from where i was staying, so i figured id take it up there since it was my only chance, and the snow wasnt that bad. was i ever wrong. i could hardly make it up the hill by the place i was staying for one, wich was NOT a big hill (and im not a bad driver) .. after i made it up that, most of the main roads were somewhat clear (KC has a horrible clearing crew ) but not for my car, no no.. every little bit of snow i hit .. i lost my rear end, my wife was sitting in the hatch! and i would still lose it, not icey or anything and i still lost it everytime.. driving VERY cautiously. 2 blocks from the place i was taking it, i got stuck in the middle of the friggin road.. nothing i could do, a cop in a 4x4 came up behind me and stopped traffic in my lane and was letting me try and get out.. to no prevail... as im sitting trying to get out.. engine at like 5k rpm in 1st gear, barely inching my way out, one of my coolant lines popped and my engine bay was smoking (the line from the radiator to the overflow) so then i was really stuck and had to call for a tow. had it towed to my friends house, put it in his garage and changed abunch of crap while it was there, got it running good again. today (sunday) i had to come back home with my wife. driving down I-70 and was going like 55 mph because i have manual steering.. crappy tires.. and a turbo and on the way home, every time id hit a 2foot by 2foot little patch of snow my rear end would start to get loose. i drove for 4 hours, tenser than crap trying to keep my car on the road and not run into a semi and kill me and my wife. thats my story. maaybe it was due to the rear wheels, but i dont think thatd cause all of it. my advice to you. if you like your car (TII specifically) DO NOT DRIVE IT WITH SNOW ON THE GROUND!..

I won't drive with any of salt on the roads. I am very careful driving my RX when it starts snowing. The RWD is not easy to control. I don't argue that there are some of you that are perfectly capable of driving in the snow. I've driven RWDs in all kinds of weather for about 4 or 5 years and seriously do not recommend driving your 7 in the snow if you don't have too. That being said, the 7 is like a roller coaster off the tracks...It is scary fun!!!

Doh... summer tires+snow= no good. Get some winter tires and you will be fine in light snow. I hope nobody is stupid enough to drive their FC in one foot of snow even with snow tires...

I wouldn't. If you got in a wreck with your fc it would be 500 just for the insurance bill. you can get a winter beater for 500 all day and you don't trash your FC

 

I drive mine all year round... Got snow tires on the stock rims.

My car has been undercoated when it was bought, and this is the first winter it's seen (from what hte original owner tells me). It could rust, but I'll wash it every now and again...
