ummmmmm not that i really care, but i think you can buy a blinker plug thing from auto parts stores and just plug that in behind your other one. theoretically that should "hyper" them.
i think it just looks stupid though. it is kminda irritatin when guys have those bright *** strobes

the way i did mine was i opened up the flasher unit and figured out which resistors to change. one controls the on time and one controls the off time. just switch the resistors with ones that will let more current through.
you cant buy one of those blinker control boxes, the one that has the **** on it to determine how fast it blinks, cuz those only work on cars where the flasher unit has three prongs. ours have six or seven.

The thread must have been bad enough to get deleted.
Nevermind. I found it. I just did a search of "white rice" in the for sale forum and it popped up. I'm pretty worried that the owner decided to keep it because he wanted to upgrade some stuff on it. I'm picturing maybe a bigger wing, wider racing stripes and 100% covered tail lights.

Incredible......
Read most of my posts and, you KNOW I had to chime in here....
The "RICE" phenom, came about because of various racing and show car effects that were produced for these arenas in particular.
Others saw a cool mod to a race car, couldnt afford it, but could emulate it. (fake it)
The show car mods, lights, etc., looked cool and attracted attention in the tradeshow, whatever.
So, these were put on the street.
These mods too, used to cost big $$$ because neon used to be cut, drawn, filled, and sealed by hand. Same with most any other "appearance mod", all crafted by hand.
Now, there are cheap replacements for these things and cheap fakes for the racing mods.
All designed to mock up somthing that about your car "isn't".
So, lets break out the definition of "RICE" as it is meant today by most that use the word.
Rice = cheap, fake, gaudy (overly flashy)
Examples:
Polished folgers can JB welded onto your exhaust tip.... RICE
TYPE "R" sticker on your Dodge Neon.... RICE
Sticking one windsheild wiper halfway up the windsheild... RICE
I have nothing against making your car look nice.
but as a rule of thumb, if its sold in the isle of a autoparts store, its bolt-on, mass produced, and designed to attract those that are trying to make their cars "pretty" then its really not worth it.
This goes for those cheap chrome accessories for V8s and those fake braided hose covers too!
RX-7s to me, have a heritage, a past born in racing, conceived by the best engineers, necks were stuck out, people were wowed, the later versions were eventually considered so exotic they wriggled out of the US market alltogether.
If you want insight into what would be attractive, yet remain in the relm of reason and good taste, especially the kind of thing that would make a RX-7 look nicer, then think about what Mazda MIGHT have done if your 2nd gen were released today?
How would it look?
What would they have done?
Since I'm talking about the subject, i must have opinion here, and I fathom a guess that the body would be a bit smoother, slightly more round at the creases, more powerful/ stable engine (renesis type), perhaps the turbocharged models would have a supercharged counterpart instead of a N/A, (many companies are supercharging at the factory now instead of making a N/A OR turbo version).
Also, better interior electronics, although they insisted on simple analog guages to keep with the true "racing simplicity" idea, perhaps there would be a digital indicator stuck in the same gauge face too?
The GXL could have a nicer logicon with navigation system?
Certainly the taillights could be LED (uniform solid matrix like the cadillacs, NOT a small cluster of LEDs like you get at the rice stores - these are illegal for street use anyway *note*)
These are just a few mild ideas.
I don't think that they would go beyond that, aside from some braking and suspension mods.
I think that if you give yourself a chance to read the history of these cars, learn about the creators, look at the projects that these engineers and engieering teams are working on now, you will "get" the idea of what performace mods you could do, that noone else has, and that they wish they had.
That's the difference between Rice and Nice.
Ultimately, I prefer to think of it this way...
Does your car say "HAY, LOOK OVER HERE, Im HERE ITS ME HI HI HI!"
(Like a self important 9 year old walking into a room of other self important 9 year olds.)
Or does your car make people say, "Hey, did you see that car?"
perhaps even, "what kinda car is that?... Thats cool".
(Like walking, handsomly dressed, into an "event" nonchalantly, not caring what anyone thinks, but secretly you know you look good.)
You know, the kind of thing that makes you think of the car for a while after its gone.
When was the last rice car you thought of for a hour after you saw it?
I'm talkging about "Flash-in-the-pan" vs. Genuine style.
Is this making sense?
Or do you really just want the resistance value of the ceramic resistor you'll need to place across your taillight contacts?

This thread should go in the "how to make your car look broken" category along with sleepy eye headlights. Those of us with broken wiper switches can stop our wipers half way up the screen to really complete the picture!
Sarcastic? Me?

I had no idea my sig was putting a cookie on people's computers for page producer. I was basically just searching around for places that would host pictures, and found that page producer site...
If everyone has a problem with the cookie thing, I guess I could find a new place to host my pictures...
