Question How low can you go (20W-50 oil temps)?

Lookin at the chart, I can't decide wheather to use 20W-50 or 20W-40, cuz right now it's getting to be in the 20's and 30's at night, and 50+ in the day. Within a month it'll be summer weather and 80-90+

How safe does 20W-50 go down to (temperturewise)? I've heard nothing but good things about using 20W-50.

PS -- I am changing my oil this weekend.

PPS -- I am using Castrol GTX Oil and Purolator Pure One filter.

(Let's not turn this into a "what oil is best" rehash of old threads )

20w-50 is recommened for temps above 20F. Just let it warm a little longer on those cold days.

I'll second that. I use 20-50 year round. Gets down into the 20's here and about 80-85 in summer.

Proper warm-up, I believe, is essential, no matter what weight oil you use.
