how loud would this be?

First what would be better Racing Beat's 'Cat Replacement Pipe w/Presilencer' or 'Streetable Header w/Presilencer' onto stock cat back?

would stock cat back sound like straight up garbage with one of thoes two options?

Would it be worth it for just a $300 mod?

i eventually want to get the Racing Beat cat back section, but one step at a time...

The header and presilencer will be loud, but it also depends on your cat-back. Something like a Borla cat-back or RB would sound nice and suttle (RB since its made for it). With the manifold it'll be quieter but less performance gains. So I myself, recommend the headers. But the cat-back of choice makes a major difference, it for sure however, will be significantly lighter.

On hooking it up. It should be fine sounding if the stock cat-back is in good shape.

Hope that helps!

When it comes to stock ports, the original manifold does just as well, if not better, than a header, so long as they've got similar/equal catback setups.

Ummmmmmm... that all depends if you consider 1-2 HP much less performance.....

Even the guys at Racing Beat will tell you that unless you are planning to switch to a carb, there is no reason to put the header on as it only gains you 1-2 HP..

The manifold does two things... it helps quiet the exhaust and it provide a minimal amount of backpressure.... a little bit of backpressure is a goot thing, it build torque at a lower RPM band...

So.. when the headers gain 1-2 HP over the Downpipe/manifold... they also shift the torque curve higher into the RPM band..

I reccomend getting the DP/Presilencer combo.. I aslo reccomend the RB Catback... However, i know thats a bit procey for some people......

I bought a car to fix and sell once with headers and an RE-Amemiya fart can on it.. it was so freakin loud i thoguht my filling were going to melt.. I sold the headers, and put the RB downpipe/ presilencer on it.... and it was still freaking loud, but tollerable and had a MUCH better tone to it. (I left the Fart Can on there for bait for young ricers... worked like a charm ) there was no noticable difference in top end performance, but it was definately smoother below 4K
