I got the tokico street kit from RX7.com on my car. shocks and springs.

I will be getting coilovers later and change the springs on the back. I don;t like the wheelspin/hop. it sucks. Yokohama AVS tires are good tires though. they went well at the track.

However, b/c of the track time.... I got a bald spot on my front right tire. I locked them up 2 times accidentally. Approached a corner too fast. I can hear a thumping at low speeds. just a mild one. can barely feel it. . =(

I have virtually exactly the system you describe.
a 3" front pipe, CAT removed, into a resonator can, then it splits into twin 2.5" with two large but well hidden mufflers it quieten it.
you have less back pressure with a twin system, but double the mufflers to quieten it too.

The previous owner took this exhaust system off, and had a single 3" system installed, as he liked the 4" single exhaust I had on my 300ZX (HKS Hiper)
He actually LOST 10rwHP with the single system, which was verified by yet another dyno,..it was only marginally quiter too.

Re; emissions, you could just gut your catalytic converter, and put it back there, if u r worried about those EPA ***********.

correct me if i am wrong (and prolly am)....two 2" pipes are equivalent to one 3" pipe, two 2.5" pipes are equivalent to one 4" pipe...if u calculate according to pi...too tired to figure it now.

Not quite...
2 x 2" is equivalent to 1 x 2.8" (11% smaller cross-sectional area tha 3")
2 x 2.5" is equivalent to 1 x 3.5" (36% bigger cross-sectional area tha 3")

This is why I keep saying to go 3" into dual 2.5"! More area = less restiction = more power!

Wow, back from the dead... Any shop that sells exhaust components should have something suitable. It's just a straight-through muffler that usually goes in the middle of the system. You can get them in many diameters and lengths. You guys usually call them pre-silencers; we call them resonators. That's because they really aren't any good at quietening the exhaust (too small) but they do help remove the lower frequencies that cause droning. It only made the system a little bit quieter (still quite loud) and had no noticable effect on performance but the exhaust never made me feel sick again...

 

hmmm i dont think that will be to bad on a turbo car. just do it. you will like the performance gain you get from it. then if its still to loud slap a resonater on it

 

i know the diameter I need. What would you recomend in length? the longer the better (that will fix) or no?

With mufflers, the rule is simple. Install the largest one you can fit. The more volume there is between the inner perforated tube and the outer can, the quieter it'll be, because there's more noise absorbing material. For a pre-silencer under the car, outer diameter is limited by road clearance, so get the longest one that'll fit.

 

I got a 3.15" racing beat downpipe and a custom made 3" exhaust all the way, no cats. Yeah it's loud till you're cruising in 5th then it sounds nice. It gets louder when I hit about 2800 RPM or when I'm boosting....I wouldn't change it at all.

I'm hitting 8.5 PSI with my stock intake with a drop in K&N filter. I haven't really pushed it to the limit yet. I'm going to the track next Friday to see what she does in the 1/4 mile....stock 15.6 at 89 MPH

 

lmao, your pic of the girl in the thong almost got me in a crap load of trouble, im pretty shure my computer teacher wouldn't like it very much, anyways, i always thought it would be cool to make an exhaust with a normal muffler and cats and every thing but after the downpipe to have a Y pipe and on one end have the normal exhaust and then on the other side have one of thoes flandges that you can open up, it would be gravy cuz when you wanted to make some noize you could open it up but when you wanted to just be quit and ride around you could too, the only prob i could think of was that it could melt from of heat of a rotory, and that if you went up for emitions then you would be pretty screwed, there isn't any enitions here but if there where it would be a hassel to take it off and on all the time...
