Exclamation How lOng does it last?

I was just wondering what the mileage is on your 2nd gens. I have my Rx7 at 220XXX miles. I want to get an idea of how much life she has left. Thanx guys.

BTW its a 1987 Base...

wow And everyone says Rx7 don't last. The only thing wrong with mine is that it need some suspension work. Mainly bushings and Struts/springs but mainly the 5th and 6th port won't open.

at 220K i would say the engine is quite worn out i would start looking into a rebuild or something..

i had an NA engine go to 200K but it blew up after i had it turboed for 5 months.... hahaha

yes i did it sort of just to say i did it, and figured it would last a couple weeks, the sucker just kept going haha

i am running another (lower) high milage engine in the same na-turboed setup haha this one only has 155K!!!
its been running for 2 months so far
prolly wont last very long either but should hold me over till i build a good motor.

turboing an s4 na motor can be very successful, if you start with a good motor. like a low milage one or a good rebuilt one.

259K on mine and counting, though I pulled the engine apart at 258K because I wanted to bridgeport it...

The fact that rotary engines don't last is a myth. They don't last if they are not maintained, like any other engine. Or if you do something stupid while modding (like any other engine).

My t2 blew at 180,xxx mi. Which I guess isn't bad.
I also had an N/A that blew at 125,xxx mi. It kind of depends on how hard you or the previous owner, drive it.

180k on my 87 n/a, original motor. 95k on my 87 TII when I sold it, original motor. 165k on my 90 TII, second motor.

They last though they are tempermental. Like any other car, it's all in how you take care of them.

Exactly, ignorance is very strong in the automotive world when it comes to rotaries, the majority just have no idea.
I feel like a youngin here, with less than 80K on the ticker.

I usually take my car to the redline about four or five times each time I drive it. Its pretty boring to put around under 3k most of the time. The party starts at 4k but once you get there you might at well keep going until the buzzer.

201,009. I drive it as hard as I did when new. But I seem to have a clutch problem so I will probably remove and rebuild the engine in the spring when I am looking at the clutch.

I take especially good care of my FC but i find myself at the redline A LOT!!
Just hoping my engine will see those numbers!

Yeah, anything under 5k is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to stay there!
