how to keep the headlights down?

what i want to do is have my headlights stay down when i turn them on so they just go through the ftp's. but i dont want to just pull the fuse, i want to beable to use the pop up switch above the headlight switch so i can pop them up as soon as i get off street lighted roads. this is just a cruising the city mod. anyone know how to make it so they dont automatically pop up when you turn them on but do pop up when you turn the switch?

Your trying to avoid making a switch, and you dont want to pull the fuse?
Well, in that case you should try saying "abra kadabra" before you turn on the lights. That has worked well for me.

for the ftp's, i remember someone once drilled a very small hole and then baked it in the oven. For your headlight thing, take a look at the wiring diagrams in the FSM, and you can probably figure out some way to rewire it all so it does what you say automatically.

There's a website that sells refurb RX-7 electronics. One of the switches sold there is a replacement headlight switch that does exactly what you're asking - it only turns the headlights on/off, and doesn't control the light motors - you have to manually put the lights up with the cleaning switch.

I don't remember what this website is, but it sounds like you can modify the switch itsself to accomplish this.

Why don't you get in touch with Icemark? I'll bet he could do it for you with a spare switch laying around...

You've got to pay to play, and IceMark is as good a place to pay as any.

Well, I studied the circuit diagram in the FSM, in the body electrical system section, page T-22. I'm no electrical engineer, heck I'm still in high skool. So correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I think you'd do. Disconnect the circuit at the red mark, and make a circuit shown by the green line. That should bypass the switch in the headlight switch that powers the retractor motor relays and rely only on the retractor switch. Now you just need to take the headlight switch apart, find out which wire is "BA" (look at the labeled connector at the bottom of the page in the FSM) going into the headlight switch, and figure out some way to do as I suggested.

Did you miss the bit in the first post where he specifically said he didn't want to do that?
