How To Install Sport Spoiler??
Hey guys, I was hoping I could get some pointers on mounting the stock sport spoiler. I know I'm going to have to drill some holes and bolt it in but I was looking for any advice or helpful hints or tricks.
I plan on measuring a bunch and trying to do it as clean as possible, (I have heard to coat the holes with a primer to block rust), so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

i took a piece of card board larger than the spoiler, set the spoiler on it and pushed it down to leave a nice imprint of the studs, outlined it, cut it out and lined it up on the back of the car, also cutting out a hole for the antenna, if the cut it
is the sport spoiler similar to the regular spoiler, or is it the little duck bill spoiler that just sits on the edge?

it should still work, not gonna be quite as easy to line up, but can definately be done, you'll just need to do a bit more measuring than i did.
from the looks of the one already installed on that very nice car, you should be able to line it up using the Scripts and the 3rd tail light for reference. though it looks to be slightly closer to the script on the left because "RX-7" is in a slightly larger font than the "Mazda" script, just take your time measuring it, do it 2 or 3 times just to make sure it's good.
maybe you could find a nice person on here with one installed to take a better picture for you and take a measurement or 2

Good idea.
I think I'm almost good to go here.
A perfect pattern to work with, just some measurements to center it and we should be okay. I'll do this tomorrow, I actually have a few days off so I have been trying to finish up the loose ends.
Thanks guys, I'll post more pics of the install and finished job.

hmm i wouldn't do it like that i'd use a much larger piece of cardboard and trace the entire bottom area thats against the body, bend the cardboard to contour it if you need to. then you'll use that to mock up and you can see if it'll be even

How long has the spoiler been off of the car it was originally mounted to? If it's been more than, well, I'd chance a week...then it might have shrunk somewhat. A friend of mine has a sport spoiler that was off of a car for too long and it shrunk down. The same problem happens with the rub strips when they are removed.
To fix this, and I'd do this before you make any markings or heaven forbid drill a damned thing, I'd leave the spoiler out in the sun for a few hours or heat it up with a heat lamp for a while until it gets just pliable enough to stretch and test fit until flush. A friend with a hose or a bucket of ice water can help as you want to try and cool it down as fast as possible once it's the right size.

nice, i have one on my gxl, everyone asks if i want to sell the spoiler, haha, but i love the low profile look it gives. it illuminates the third tail light a bit. just looks good over all from the rear
