How important is this? Injector related

While taking out my secondary injectors one of those injector filters(Not sure what its called...Seems to keep dirt out of the manifold when there is no injector? Dealer ship said it was called socket air bleed...?) broke and im having trouble locating another one. How important are these things??

http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-6.htm I'd put a new one in or try to get a used one. Others say they're not really required. I disagree to that somewhat.

They are called diffusers. If you want to have more problems with flooding and not spray fuel very well don't use them. Everything I've read indicates they are vital to preventing these two problems. Expensive buggers though!
