no hotter than the exhaust temp...so max 1700F+ a few degrees....but a car running 10psi that is tuned will not be at 1700...maybe 1400F or less..

doesnt that have bad effects on the LIM on T2s? since the lim is made out of aluminum, it seems like that would make the intake temps WAY hot, or melt the aluminum since its kind of close to it? Obviously it doesnt melt it, but can you see what im saying?

There is a heat shield which goes between the turbo and the LIM.

The material your turbo and manifold are made out of will melt before aluminum. Im sure that intake temps do skyrocket from having the intake so close to the exhaust though.

It surprises me the amount of people who have no sheilding on their turbo hotside, especialy with all this talk of cai's and the rest of it to lower temps a few degrees.

It doesn't heatsoak the intake that much. Even on my 6port turbo it doesn't heat the intake up that much, and it's only 5mm away.

why dont you run your car for bout 5 minutes at wot then put your hand there..bout 5mm away and tell me how long you dont feel heat soak(please dont ...better yet, just take a flat thermocoupler and take the outside temp of the intake (surface temp) after WOT 5 minutes...will be in the hundrets..too hot to even touch with a bare hand..that is why the old rubber hoses crack and fail over time...heat shield is there for a reason...why would anyone want the intake air to be even 20-30 degrees hotter when a simple heat shield will stop that....and heat speeds up the aging process by

I have one of those nifty infrared heat-ray thingers.. I forget for the life of me what they're called

Anyways, I did some underhood mesuring after some regular driving and some more after some WOT action.

my results:

item temp: regular WOT
Engine 65 75
Rad 65 70
Turbo *** ***
Intercooler 62 67
LIM 66 66
UIM 64 64
Alternator 64 64
Oil cooler 58 72
all temps are in celcius..

the turbo was more than 300C the whole time, hence no reading.

I have NO heat shielding around my turbo right now, but that is going to change as of monday when I put in the new turbo.

Simply because it doesn't fit. And, the intake runners on my car run ~190 degrees during a WOT run
