Did it once and it took bout 2 1/2 hours nothin too complicated gotta remove exhaust and driveshaft, unbolt from engine, unbolt crossmember vola!
Only time consumer was rusty driveshaft bolt, oh and lining up the input shaft on replacement.

edit: be sure to disconnect battery first, theres some live wires

Its nothing major. Taking all bolts out is the hardest part. Make sure you have a friend there to torture buy helping you put up and bring the tranny down. Our hardest part was getting the new tranny to slide back up all the way to the motor.

its much easier to have a friend help you hoist it back in, but that was a T2 tranney, NA's are lighter, so you might be able to do it yourself. you also might need someone to move the main pulley back and forth a little while you push the tranney on the eshaft to line up the splines.

the 2 things I'd add are:

Tip the motor so the back points down (with the weight of the trans gone it tends to tip forward making installing the trans harder)

Put the trans in gear when reinstalling so you can rotate it to light up the splines in the clutch.

Here's a little more advice... If you still have the intake manifold on which you probably do, it will be much easier if you have long socket extensions with 1 or 2 good universal joints. This way you will be able to take the hard to reach engine to tranny bolts off from under the car easier.
