how hard is it to install a boost gauge on a t2?
im thinking of getting a electric boost gauge for my car and i wanted to install it my self, what is the proceedur of doing this? and with electric boost gauge is the most easy to install and looks closest to the stock gauges?
I don't have a DYI on it but it is really quite simple. You will need to find an illumination wire and a power wire, maybe from the radio, and then find a good place to mount it. Most people put it on the pillar by the window. Then all you do is buy a "T" for a 4mm hose from the store and then cut the line going to the pressure sensor on the pass side shock tower and then stick the "T" in there and hook up the boost gauge hose to it.

i herd that mechanicle boost gauges blow up and shoot oul every were, is this true? and if this is not true or i can find a way to avoid it then is there a website that explains it better and has pics?
Connecting a boot gauge is simple. Just T it off the small rubber hose that goes to your boost sensor. The boost sensor is the small black box mounted on the front passenger side wheel well in the engine bay. Ive never heard of boost gauges blowing up.
Boost gauge was easy. I dunno how much it cost, but I helped a friend install one. I was easy as drilling a hole in the firewall, hooking up the hose, putting it through the firewall, soldering some wires, and sticking the new pillar cover on. Looks badass too.

On my A Pillar I have a string of Guages. The 1st one (bottom of the A Pillar) was tapped Into via the Cig Lighter(+Ign switched and ground). The lighting for this was tapped from the Cig Lighters Light bulb, both +&-.
From there, every successive Guage on top of the previous one was mounted and was used as a tapping Into for the Guages for direct Illumination, power, ground etc. Kinda like a piggy back.
I'm not sure I stated this correctly.

Haha, blowing up and leaking oil, thats an OLD OLD problem from musule cars with mechanical oil gauges!
You'd get oil all over your legs when those went bad! HA!
(I had a 66 Stang before I had the 7!)

-Tee the vacumm/pressure tube to a source from the intake manifold.
-Route the tube/wiring through the firewall... you don't even have to drill holes, just route it through the wiring harness boot
-Wire the backlighting to your stock gauge dimmer switch
-Find a way to mount it and hide all the wires
