how hard to beat a second gen eclipse in a freeway race
I saw this green car with the green LED windshield washers nad green side markers getting on the freeway behind me. waited for him to pull up and saw that it was a second gen eclipse. we rode side by side for some time waiting to make sure there was no traffic and the only car around was behind us so I slowed down saw wht it was then caught back up. as is normal for me I let him make the first move and he took off got his bumper even with my front tire and I gunned it from 70 up to 80-85 I put half a car between his bumper and mine. and we did this for quite a few times. when I put that distance there I let off let him catch back up then gunned it again and same results over and over.
the only time I thought I might lose I was slow on the uptake and he pulled about a car and a half on me before I did anything with a car comming up in my lane. I started again at 80mph and by the time I hit 100 I was able to get in fron of him to avoid the car comming up in a safe manner.and slow down to speed by the time we passed the car. I don't think he backed off being that was the first time he even was able to get ahead of me and with how loud my car is I am sure he heard me at WOT and saw that I wasn't giving in.
the only thing that sucked is I was using 4th gear on most the runs 3rd is good up to about 90mph or so (Even with a 4.10 rear) though on the last one I had to use 4th.....
what's up though with this I figured it wasn't a turbo but shouldn't it have been him pulling a lot more then that?
are these cars just slow I mean I run a 16.1 best on the g-tech and have hit a 16.4 at the track best
what gives
and sorry about the info you guys already know like the 4.10 rear I just did a copy and paste from a boinger site that I spend a lot of time on

From a roll is alot different than from a stop, especially if it was the GSX (AWD). My friend in his '93 Probe GT beat a stock GST (FWD turbo) from a roll, pulled a few carlengths, and my N/A FC is faster than his probe was. (slightly). Notice I said stock, because with only a few mods those DSM's can be fast! But if It wasnt a turbo they have the same engine as a Neon and are slow as dirt, so there should be no excuse for losing to one.

Rolling is totally different my first gen will walk away from my second gen and all it had (before I pulled it out) was a 12a with a perforated bridge port everything else was stock now from a dead stop was a whole different story.

UMM.. i've raced the Turbo FWD Laser (2nd gen) from a 75-120mph roll. accidentally started in 4th so it was pretty even until 100 when we put like a carlenght on him. If I was in 3rd, I woulda destroyed his ***.

Thats impressive on the laser kill, they are fast even stock. I was going to buy one before I got my FC, and it wouldle blew the doors off of my car when it was stock. They run high 14's in the 1/4, and are pretty peppy on the highway too, no AWD to slow them down. I think my FC could take it with my mods now though

the N/A second gens arenīt they still high 15īs? low 16īs and that is even with a FWD launch
I would figure with those times being slowed down by a FWD launch at a roll they should beat me

There was no 2gen Laser, 1g DSM there was Talon, Eclipse, Laser and Galant and 2gen there was just Talon and Eclipse and the Talon was dropped the year before the Eclipse.
The AWD turbo cars will pull nicely from a roll (mine would keep up with a SP63 Single turbo when i was on race gas to 135mph or so when he just plain out geared me). The FWD turbo cars can be downright NASTY on the interstate. The big advantage the DSM will have over the FC, TORQUE. They weigh more. but the 4g63 is a VERY stout VERY torqey motor, and you will be hard pressed to get an FC to run with a DSM in a straight line dollar for dollar. Hell you can get 13's out of a DSM (FWD or AWD) pretty much for free, drop the exhaust, pull the boost soleniod, cut the aircan and put a bleeder valve in.
From a stop an AWD Talon will DESTROY an FC, 1.6Xsec short times on street radials tend to do that.
The NA 2g's use the ChryCo 420A block (Neon Motor) and is **** slow stock.
