How good is the A'pexi Super AFC (5 *****)?

Hi guys,
I'm getting a really good deal on a Super AFC, the one with 5 ***** that sets the AFR for 800, 2400, 4000, 5600, 7200 rpm. How good is for tuning the FC? Mine has just basic exhaust mods, I'm aiming at improving performance and drivability and get 220-240hp maybe.
Any ideas/inputs?

PS: I know this should go the teh Engine Managment Forum, but I saw it's kinda a slow one.

N/A? Turbo? With just basic exhaust mods on a turbo, I'm not sure you'll be hitting those numbers. But if you're running N/A, there's absolutely no way you'll hit those numbers without some liberal streetporting.

Hi guys, thx for the replies.
I have a TII swap, MSD fuel pump and running around 12 psi of boost; I'll definetly get the 720cc secondaries soon.
So, is it worth? I'm getting the AFC + MSD 6A and coil blaster for around 200 bucks.

With an N/A you wont hit those numbers period.

you can get those numbers with a n/a..... at the flywheel.

the peoblem id see with that safc is not having a low and high map. with bigger injectors you gonna need to be able to make the flow like stock at normal driving and then be able to tune a hi-map for boosting a/f numbers.

It'll work.
You really don't need the HI / LO settings, as the ECU goes into closed loop under cruising conditions.

boosted1205 has been using one for years with good results.

so i guess it would be ok for bigger secondaries.. but you would need the high/low if you were to run bigger primarys too. like 4x720s for example.

i think the fuel curves overlap each other where as say at 5600 you are adding 10% fuel and at 7200 you are adding 20% fuel at 6400 youd be adding 15% fuel, and linear above 7200 yeah

i could be wrong

Um, can you explain why you need the HI/LO for bigger primaries?
No fuel controller can adjust the initial cranking primer when the engine is first started; that cranking primer is independent of the airflow meter signal, so adjusting that signal does nothing.  See my other thread, cause my Field SFC-HyperR with 4x720's still floods occassionally, and I only figured this out recently.

Under light load conditions, the O2 closed-loop system practically negates any adjustment you do to the airflow meter signal.

Boost does not really have an effect on the engine until after 3,000RPM, so adjustments under that RPM do not really change WOT performance.

I find the stock ECU on and FC gets the most gains between 3,500RPM and 5kRPM (lean this range out) and sometimes very high RPM.  This A'PEXi Super AFC (Gen I) does an okay job on an FC, and if you can get one for a good deal, why not?  Sure, the newer S-AFC units come with a lot of nice additions, but they are not really necessary.
