How to get more power

Hello@All,

I have a '91 FC cabrio (turbo). Everything is stock. I have dynoed it, and it gets the 202hp that Mazda is saying that it gets. My engine has ~50K klm (new one) and its working really fine with no problems at all. (!)

I would like to ask:
How can I get 230 - 240 hp without taking any risk. I mean the safest way possible.

Any suggestions? Any help? Please, be very specific and explainful, I am new at RX7!

Can you make a list of things that I should get in order to grabb the 230hp?

thanx alot

well... do you have emissions checking? the injectors can handle 230-240, you might want to rewire your fuel pump. If you do have emissions checking, then try playing around with your intake. TID mod and cone filter. You'll need a manual boost controller(or electronic, but that is way more expensive). if you don't have emissions then go full exhaust, or at least a downpipe. Downpipe will get you a couple pounds of boost,(I know you guys use bar, but I don't feel like converting ) and full exhaust you will be able to get 230-240 easy with a boost controller.

oh yea, port that wastegate! (oh wait you have an s5... shouldn't be too big of a problem but porting couldn't hurt!)

thank you very much!

I have emissions btw. Also, there is no money problem.
So if I got it right you are suggesting:

New intake
New ECU (boost controller?)
New exaust

and I will get the 230?

Questions:

1) With proper service I would not have any problem ah?
2) How much psi would the turbo will work after that?
3) How much money will it cost? Consider using the better parts available.

Thaaaaank youuuu

GM Heinz, are you getting 202 dyno'd at the wheels? If so, you're already ahead of stock by quite a bit. Mazda's 200hp rating is off an engine dyno.

Kosta, you should also check the European Forum on this site. You will find a few Greeks there too. I live in Cyprus. The reason I asked you how rare are the FCs in Germany its because here in Cyprus I probably saw around 10-15. You see 3rd generations all the time especially models 95+. My best friend has a 96 type RS and another good friend of mine has a 98 RS-R.

Thanks

RHDturboII, You guys are so lucky to have models after 95... I know myself as well as a few of my friends would die to get to see or even drive for that matter a 98 or 99 model.....

CelticRX7,
Yes we get all the Jap-imports here since we drive right hand drive cars. The funny thing is that the Mazda dealerships will have the RX8-UK spec in the show rooms in March and I saw at least 10 used RX-8s in used car dealerships

maybe get a front mount intercooler as well. It makes it more reliable.
