probably a 10mm. i had the same problem. try and push on the belts to tighten grip on the pulley. i think that's what i did. the belt will grap the pulley a lot better than just trying to hold it with your hand.

if you're talking about the head of the nut, all i can say is try to use vise grips. if that doesn't work, try and cut the nut off and once you get the fan off, take the remaining stud out of the pulley. these are only suggestions

I broke a couple of my screws, I think you have to turn them the opposite direction.

They turn the normal direction. What I have done in the past is to use a 10MM wrench to hold the pully stationary while I loosened the bolts. Then, on the last bolt, push against the wrench so you are not tightening the bolt you are using to hold, but instead using it to keep the pully stationary.

Well, its easily done one of two ways.

1) Tighen the belts to the alternator, and loosen the top two bolts. Loosen the alternator, turn the water pump by hand, so the other two bolts are facing upward, retighten the alternator belts. Loosen top two bolts, and wala.

2) Use a large screwdriver to pry betwteen one of the nuts and the pulley, so you can put resistance in the opposite direction.

Also, use a 10mm combination wrench, and the closed end of it. If you dont have one, go to sears and get one. You will more than get your use out of it.
