Question How to fix this vac. leak?, *pic*

Hey guys,

i was doing a boost leak test and a leak had come up, i will upload a picture that has the item circled in red, the side of this unit with the allen bolt seems to be leaking, am i able to put a small ammount of silicone over the portion to prevent it from leaking air, or does the entire unit need to be replaced?...

thanks!

You ***.

Let me just get out my microscope...

In general though, no. You can't just slab silicone over it and expect it to not leak. That's a terrible fix, and if it does work, it'll only work for a very short while. Whatever it is, remove it, clean the mating surface, and replace the gasket.

there's no gasket, from what i can see....

maybe i'll snap a pic later today after work, it's the unit, i bellieved to be the BAC, on the intake manifold that has the two coolant line's runing into/through....

also has a small clip from the wiring harness on there too....

Yeah, that sounds like the BAC and there should be a gasket between it and the manifold.

How did you check the air leak there? Bubble fluid? Seems to me there can't be much of any air coming out that allen screw/bolt. Hard to see how. If you used bubble fluid and it just bubbles a bit.........who cares?

so it's leaking from the allen bolt portion of the BAC valve body? or is it leaking from the surface where the BAC mates to the UIM?

it's leaking from the BAC portion, the plastic "cap" looking thing that the allen bolt screws through....

not where it mates to the intake manifold....
