Well, then, if this thread is so damn gay why don't you tell me why. I'm pretty disappointed with some of the responses i've gotten from you guys. Your basically the only help i can get being 17 and living in Montana, but if some of you want to be ******** do it somewhere else. This is a site used to gain information about the car most of us love, not to bash eachother on stupid questions (which i thought was legitimate).
Anywayz 87-Rexxer-GXL and i figured out the problem. The intake hose going to the turbo was cracked. Now it's running fine.
By the way, i never once said anything about launching the car, i was talking about a roll in first gear, but it's obvious many of you just enjoy bashing to make yourselves feel good. I hope your proud.

I raced a 300zx awhile back...launced @ around 5-6k...started going...car didn't feel like it was accelerating fast enough...hit second...step on it the tacks going up but my speed wasn't really increasing like it should...so I let off the gas it starts to grab and go and just then a big puff of smoke comes up through the shifter...me thinks I baked the clutch...why didn't I get any wheelspin I want to know...

no...my clutch is only 1 year 1/2 old maybe 2 ...it's weird...after that happened...I got a mechanic to check it out...told him what happened...he jumped in my car felt the clutch a couple times...said no it feels great...that' was a couple month's ago...she drives great...no slippage...engages nicely...I wonder what it could have been...???

in every car i've every owned i go through a clutch in about 2 years. i'm very hard on clutchs though, so it's very possible and what you did to it when you tryed to race that guy just destroyed it, i've never let mine smoke before, if you haven't gone through the clutch pad already, you've glazed it horribly bad, either way it needs to be replaced

Dude, that's great for doing the trouble shooting and finding the problem with your FC. Just seems that anyone who has a "minor" problem automatically comes here with questions in a panic instead of refering to the FSM or just giving their engine bay a good look around FIRST. 90% of the time these type of threads posted on this site that I have observed so far (havn't been here long either)could have been solved with a little more effort given by the owner. Just seems that this is the quickest or say the easiest way of solving your car's woes instead of getting your hands dirty right off the bat and spending a couple hours familiarizing themselves with there ride. Hell, if they come across it on there own it will only better them as a mechanic. Not ******* you dude just sometimes it is disappointing to come online and only find threads sometimes like this in such high numbers.

Again, glad you, yourself found the problem.

You're 100% right. I've seen so many threads that were "minor" that i've started to do it myself. I appreciate the explanation.
