How fast are you guys running?

well, im no more a rex owner
currently have a civic hatch which most of you guys hate
yeah, im in dark side
but rx7 was hell fun to drive..
my question is civic with b16 and basic bolt ons can run mid 14's easily and that set-up is very common
what are your 1/4 mile time?
my ex-s4 base, i dont know how fast it was but 16's maybe..
does this mean swapped civic is faster than usual 2nd gen rx7s?
how about handling?
im not saying civic is better than rx7 and ill never say that.. but it seems to me civic is reliable and fast rather than rx7s..
what you guys think?

I ran a 13.8 @102 on my first and only pass w/mods in sig. If you do basic upgrades to a TurboII you will be in teh low 14's-high 13's.

A good friend of mine has an EK hatch with coil overs, and sway bars, and it handels very, VERY well. Way better than my FC, but I am runnign my old as dirt, blown out stock susenpion.

Um.. no.

My buddy has a lightened Civic Hatchback with a B18C5 with modified internals, a full Hondata setup, upgraded injectors & fuel, all the bolt-ons, and some other work done to it, and he runs 13.9.

The B18C5 is just a LITTLE bit faster than a B16A1 or B16A2 (like 35+ hp stock faster). There is no way a Civic Hatch with just a B16 is going to run those times.

Now, a CRX, that might be possible. The thing weighs in at like 1600 lbs if you dump a little extra crap.

Oh and my S5 TurboII ($3000 to buy and get going) runs 13.75 @ 104.8 mph at 5 lbs boost.

I ran a 14.7@96mph with my current mods, but with my lighter wheels/hubs I ran a 14.63@97 mph. Once I get a few more mods in Ill take it out again.

But I think Ill be spending more time autoXing when I get my shocks/springs installed.

Actually I dont think alot of people hate hybrid hondas, but mostly because of the "styling-challenged" people who make the Honda look retarded and give the import crowd a bad name. The good thing about most Hondas are that they are hella light, but then again they are FWD.

My frist run ever in my T2 was a 14.6@99.2mph. Then, later that night I ran a 15.2, then a 15.8, then a 16.0, then a 16.5!!! Then the next day the motor blew up!!

I should easily be a 13s car.... especially when I get my new streetported motor! Muhahaha!

I don't really care if a Civic could beat me in the 1/4 mile. If you give us more room, then we'll take off with our high-end acceleration. Besides, a straight line doesn't prove much.

In my opinion, a FWD car can NEVER be a true sports car, no matter how souped up it is.

I'm not trying to bash you or anything. I'm just saying that the RX-7 is a better car, regardless of 1/4-mile time. I'm also not arguing, b/c I'm sure you already appreciate what else the RX-7 has to offer. I just want to remind people not to get caught up in the 1/4 mile as the ultimate judge, b/c so many people think that way.

I bet a stripped eg with a b16 could definitely run mid 14's with bolt on's all day long....

I ran 13.8@102 with 400 dollars in mods. I originally had a gsr...which my username implies, but decided if I was going to spend a lot of money on a car I'd rather do it on one with more potential. All b series engines are great motors, but I felt that my money was just better spent on the t2. As of now my best time is a 13.8@104, and hopefulyl in the fall I'll get that down to low 13's with some drag radials, and this is all on the stock turbo/IC/ports.

hondas you can make pretty quick with a motor swap, but you hit a wall too fast. yea, they'll be real quick, but then whats next? staying away from hellacious weight reduction, you get into headwork, new bottom end pieces, and a turbo kit. no honda (as far i know or am concerned) was built for turbo. take the sr20 for example, a good number for the stock bottom end is 400 to the wheels. how many hondas have 400 to the wheels? i used to have a 95 GSR and realized what i'd have to get into to have a reliable daily driver with a lot of *****. and yes, i realize now i have a rotary which isn't always so reliable, but j-specs seem to be cheaper.

well let me swap out my STOCK honda engine and put in a better one and then add some mods, hmm it would probably be better than a stock 7. MY buddy has spent around 3-4 thousand bucks on his accord and it could just barely beat my stock 7. hmm thats interesting.

I have a streetported 1st gen GSL-SE , a 2nd gen n/a that is curently a turbo project, and a Honda EX. When both the RX-7s were stock they would easily walk all over my Honda. It isn't even funny. Many 2nd gens out there run worse than stock since many owners don't realize about little problems like stuck 6 port actuators and such. My GSL-SE runs 14's now and I can beat Honda Civics with 'few mods' all day every day and even stomp on the Integra type R, Civic SIs and the Preludes. Nothing special about them. If you look at the way Honda designed those cars, they have tri-y headers stock and their intake manifolds are perfectly designed around the engine. A new filter doesn't do crap but make them louder. There isn't much you can do to make those cars faster without spending some serious money. I'll race anyone anytime in a Civic that has no internal engine work but has one of those ripoff Venom intake manifolds. They are slower than stock! You get the point. If a 2nd n/a loses to a Honda there are only a few reasons why; poorly running 2nd gen or the Honda has some form of forced induction or nitrous, or its an NSX or S2000. It is few and far between (but admittedly not impossible) that a Honda Civic will beat an RX-7 of almost any kind. My Civic can't get out of its own way yet alone my RX-7s way.
