I'm fouling them like CRAZY... The only benefit is that when I do decide to "splurge" and replace them, I get to treat myself with a fast car (for a couple days), lol. I probably "gain" 20whp all over the power-band just from replacing my plugs.

If I had the money, I'd replace them every week (seriously). As it is, I clean them every two weeks and replace them monthly. By that time, they're pretty much garbage.

Also, since I'm on the topic of "spark", I have a question... Ok, I've never had an upgraded ignition system, but would this help prevent the fouling?

And yes, I daily drive my Turbo II. About 500 miles a week.

Mods:

9.4:1 N/A rotors
street-port
T04B Turbonetics hybrid s5 turbo
Greddy FMIC
SAFC and R-TEk 1.7
Walbro 255, 680 primaries, 890 secondaries

etc., etc., etc.

It also doesn't help that I premix and that I'm starting to get some blow-by from the oil-control rings...

Do you premix and still run the OMP? An Ignition box will help with the fouling some, but it's not the cure. Make sure everything is like it should be. Check your wires as well.

If they are fouling and everything else is okay, then you are using...

TOO COLD OF A PLUG

I use 9s all the way around, and I never foul them... If anything, when I am on high boost, I tend to chew them up a bit (center electrode wears fast!).

and you are using them in a climate that is much more mild to start with and don't have to worry about cold temps and extra cold engines when starting as much

Eh.. Apparently you dont watch the tucson weather (no reason too), but we have had sub freezing temps for weeks now (we even got snow). Car still starts just fine!

LOL, Hey I spent a year based near there... cold in the winter, hot in the summer... couldn't figure out why anyone would want to live there. And desert cold... now that is really cold.

But the point I guess I was making, is that most plugs foul when the engine is cold or the tune is bad. Colder the engine, the morelikely to foul before the plugs come up to temp. So if he is getting short term fouling, chances are he is using too cold of a plug for the climate he is starting in, or he is way out of tune.

Well, my tune is pretty good for running full boost/WOT--but since I'm using the SAFC to control my "race-car"--it's also probably not the best tune for daily driving. There's not much leeway for tuning the transition from low/high map. Either way, I was just curious if anyone else suffered like me.

Now the question is; should I switch back to running the stock NGK 9/11 combo?

Would 6/8 plugs be better in Tennessee for the winter or all year? My car is all stock.. And most of my driving is city. Lot of shorter trips. s5 NA vert.

hey guys I went and looked at my NGK plugs they say something like BUR7 all I know is there is a seven there and they where supposed to be stock turbo 2 NGK plugs.

Could this cause power loss in the upper rpm band?

i have the same problem. the plugs will be fine when its cold but when it gets really cold~low teens~the plugs start to foul out and wont fire. i just ordered some hot plugs today. the mechanic i took it to the last 2 times they fouled out said i needed hotter plugs. every time they foul its really cold. id go for hot plugs.
