how far does your clutch fan spin?

when it's compleaty hot (after a good drive) right after the car is shut off.

how far can you spin it? should you be able too move it?

mine will spin about 180 degrees with a good flick.

I wonder if my clutch is gone.

how to wait a few hours and see how far it goes when cold. hopefully alot more then hot....

Wow. Mine doesn't move that much at all, even cold. I'm lucky to get 1/4 turn out of it, period.

If it's spinning 180 degrees hot, it's probably toast.

E-fan time! You wouldn't believe how much space in the engine bay shows up by getting rid of the stock fan & shroud.

Or look in the classifieds for someone selling one? I'd sell you mine, but this rebuild has me so flatass broke I'm going to get an e-fan *later*.

been there done that. put the stock fan back on.

if the clutch is dead and the fan will keep the temps the same as my old 16" permacool did. then I'll get to laugh at e-fans even more now.

It the temp stays stable at idle, the clutch is fine. If it doesn't, it isn't.

hey if you all want a good e-fan, forget those perma cool ones. go to the junk yard and get one out of a ford taurus with a v6. it is a hi and low speed fan with a shroud. it fits perfectly to the rx 7 radiator. i have one on my rx and it stays really cool.

if I come to a stop at 185-190F. it'll reach 195-200 within a couple mins. but it'll also hit that going up hill.

it only goes down to 185 after some highway costing. normal is 190-195.

I've never been too happy with the cooling. but the only thing left to change is the engine.....

with the stock rad it would idle at 185 but hit 220 up hills in hot weather. now it's always kinda 195... I guess the k2rd rad is too big to pull air through

Mine was worn out, but it kept my temps fine.

You can tell if the clutch is worn out because you hear a big WHOOOOSH when a good clutch fan is working right. My friend's NA and another friend's 88 10th AE sound like Jeep Cherokees taking off from the sound of the air going through the radiator.

or an old ford explorer.

scathcart: do you still have the fan shroud? when I put mine back on I noticed a HUGE difference.
