How, exactly, does the turbo hood drain rain water from the scoop?

How, exactly, does the turbo hood drain rain water from the scoop?

Everytime it rains and I run my T2, I get steam billowing from the hood... It seems to be coming in from the scoop and sitting on the turbo manifold which gets a tad hot. Is there some sort of drain system or something I need to check?

water shouldnt be getting past the TMIC. do you have the rubber gasket on the underside of your hood where the scoop is? sounds like you dont. if this is true your TMIC isnt being as efficient as it should be since air isnt being forced onto the IC.

EDIT: are you driving in torrential rains or something lol. normally the TMIC gets so hot that any water that hits it will immediately evaporate

Scratch that, apparently I have a different problem. My mechanic just safety checked it, he said there's a small antifreeze leak above the turbo, and that's what's dripping on it.

Ideas, anyone?

water feed line for turbo most likely. if it is indeed the problem you'll most likely just need to replace the gasket but I would tighten down first to make sure it isnt just loose. i like using RTV if you need to replace the gasket. i'd pressurize the cooling system to find out for sure where the leak is coming from

the ic has a seal and below it it has a heat shield that should help the water drian off on the drivers side..

the turbo leak could be at a few places.. the most common that i have found is the water passage between the LIM and the block. there is a rubber o ring and they arent so great. also the hard line from the lim to the turbo has leaked on me a few times.. even the soft line from the turbo to the water pump housing could be cracked but that would just drip and not evap from touching the turbo. so probably that hard line or the o ring are what i would check first. dry everything off and let it sit for a few days and see if you can pinpoint the leak. shouldnt be too hard
