how eff'd is my engine?
i bought a s5 TII jspec from fc3s.org and it has lasted about 6 months so far. it has ALWAYS had a small quick lope in the idle (which we never figured out why) and has never gotten more than ~15inches of vacuum at idle...
well recently, the rear rotor has developed drastically low compression. after a night of reaming on the car, i noticed the car was a little low on power (while cruising in 5th gear), but still running smooth. so we pull over and the car is idling on one rotor (uhoh..) and we did a simple 'woosh' compression test and had 3 wooshes on each rotor.
two days ago i did a real compression test with the kind of pressure gauge that screws into the spark plug holes with an oring to seal it for a better reading. 95,90,90 front rotor. 30,25,25 rear rotor... uhoh.
my question is, have i actually LOST any of the seals? i find it hard to believe that all 3 apex seals on one rotor are simply CRACKED and not totally gone after me driving the car for 3 days with low compression. also the turbo still boosts fine. i figured if i had no apex seals i would have very little (~5-10psi) IF ANY compression on the rotor. is my rotor and housing going to be totally scarred and not reusable when i have it rebuilt next week? someone please offer me some opinions...

it could just be carbon'd up. I just tore apart an S4 TII that was doing much the same, pulled ok but didn't hold an idle at all when warm and had lower compression on the rear rotor. Pull off the turbo and take a good look in the exhaust ports and see if you can see all 3 apex seals. Mine were all still intact but the motor was a real mess but everything cleaned up good with. Do a search and you could try water/atf before you decide to rebuild/replace.
