how do you tell if your wastegate is bad?

Ok i have been trying to figure out what my boost problem is. boost will hit 10 psi then bleed off to 4-5 psi at about 6500. is their a way to tell if the wastegate is bad?? ive done reasherch and ive come up with a couple different answers. i was just wondering if someone else had the same problem...

if your running the stock turbo.... what you are describing is pretty common... the turbo simply doesn't keep up with the motor at the higher RPM's and boost falls off.

i havent seen the stocker really fall off much on many engines try a boost controller and see if that helps

That's not a wastegate problem.

not really stocker problem unless turbo is very tired

my old stock turbo held .85 bar solid, even at 6500rpm @ 4th gear

Yea exactly, I read yearsofdecays post and was like wtf? I could have sworn that people had a problem with boost creep here all the time with a new exhaust setup and none ported wastegate. The turbo in these cars can defenitly keep up with the engine

The wastegate rarely fails.
Stop blaming the wastegate on your supposed "problem", cause it's totally normal for the turbo to be doing that.
