Hi,

Just wondering how you guys start your car coz I just read some RX-7 FAQ posted on some homepage and this guy advises that you should depress the accelerator pedal 1/4 of the way down as you start the car.

Anyway, the question is, is it necessary to depress the accelerator at all when you're starting your car? Don't the injectors automatically pump fuel in when you turn the ignition? Aren't you just wasting fuel by stepping on the pedal as you start your car?

How do YOU start your car?

btw, I'm not talking about very cold starts... the temperature where I live never drops below 0°C.

Its not the wasting of fuel its the computer or a sensor not working properly if you have to step on the gas to start the engine. If thats what it takes then something is wrong.

 

in gear, foot on clutch, foot on break = no aws and no chance of pushing the throthle down ..

You dont have to although I do pump it for my carb. thats all. now wasnt that more simple than being a smartass grinder?

Agreed, unless you have a carburator, you should NOT need to press the pedal to start it.
