Angry How do you put the top up on a vert if....

Here's the deal. I had the top down on my vert when I began to pull the motor. Well it is time to pull the motor out and the top is still down. The wireing harness if off and I am scared to even try to put power to car. Is there a way to manully put the top up with out power???

I have read how posts how people took the motors out, but I can't find the posts now.

Yes I have to have the top up because the car is going out of the garage while the engine is on the stand.......AND..... a killer rain storm is on its way

I guess if you can't just pull it up, there's always plastic sheeting.

BTW, this is a duplicated post, and you may wanna delete the other one. . . .

Unless you've cut some wires (as opposed to just unplugging stuff), there's no danger in reconnecting the battery and turning the ignition on.

Are you sure??? I was real close to doing that but there are so many connectors just hanging around!!!!! I am thinking mainly about the starter lead laying there on the engine strut

I'll try it if you think its OK

Make the starter, alternator and any other exposed live connections safe with a bit of insulation tape. Plugs are perfectly safe as the metal connectors are completely within the plastic. Common sense really.

And next time you disconnect the battery made sure the roof is up.

I'll Try it tomorrow. The engine is out and hanging from the "2-ton Big Red Cable puller". The rain is on the way so I'll start again tomorrow!

Thanks NZ, the Moral support is most of the battle. This forum has been very good to me.

Jays83, I don't know how to delete the other duplicate post.

Here is the deal. Rarely do you see a post where somebody actually solved their riddle and I vowed to always post the cure for future searches.

NZ was right, the hot connectors are inside plastic. The started (the main one I was worried about) is inside that red rubber boot. I connected the battery with some jumper cables and to my suprise no welding took place. The car was as if the engine was still in place. (of course I didn't bump the starter what are ya thinkin'?) Any way the top went up no problem.

I never did find those slots.

Agian, an obsticle overcome due to the good people at this forum
