Exclamation how do you fix a leaky vert ?

i just bought one, and it leaks like crazy in the rain... what is the best solution? new top? or the rubber sideing? it leaks at the top on both ends of the windows. the top has ripps in it so i am going to have to replace it anyways but i noticed that there are very small (1/2 mm in the corners so its not completely sealed.) ill post pics of the car asap. im going to be dropping my 13bt in. im calling it, operation turbo-vert !

did you try tightening the hooks that latch the targa top to the windshield? I noticed mine dripped a bit with the storms we had today and found out one of them loosened itself (usually happens when i have friends put the top down and they dont notice if the hooks turn it messes with the spacing)

Other than that it could probably use new sealing around the targa. Off topic were are you at in PA?

you would be better off pulling the carper to check for rust holes under the carpet and just replacing the carpet when you have it out.

Just tighten the crud out of it, and check the gaskets. My driver side gasket just like to dump water on me, and it blows. Black Dragon has replacement gaskets, at the low, low price of 2 arms and 3 legs (over $100, for rubber).

I did the new side seals and the ones along the door on mine and it still leaks. Driver side is good, only in a deluge will it drip. The pass side leaks at the front where it meets. I've cranked down the latches, put still leaks.

Mines a turbo vert too!!!

Mine also drips a bit above the windows in a downpour. Replacing the side seals that attach to the sides of the Targa helped a bit. Get a catalog from Victoria British/Black Dragon so you can at least see all of the seals that you have to deal with.

When you pull the carpet make sure to pull out all of the rubber plugs that seal the holes in the floor so water can drain. Check your outer door window seals and make sure the rubber is in contact with the window so that water does not run into the door at the seal and back into the carpet at the inside lower part of the door. I had to replace these and that helped a good bit.

Keep in mind that it is possible for your ECU to get moist enough to start malfunctioning. My car started running like **** and throwing several codes. After replacing a few parts based on the codes, I took the ECU out and it was very wet. After taking it apart and letting it dry for a while and then putting it back in, everything was back to normal.

Sure fire 100% way to make sure it doesn't leak:

Put it in the garage.
Buy a waterproof car cover.

After all, it is a convertible. It is always going to leak.
