How do I run ECU codes?

Can I do this with a voltemeter? Is there a site that states what all the codes mean?

If your car is an '89 or above, all you need to do is jumper the idle set connector (a single green connector on driver's side near the front) to ground, turn on the ignition, and count the blinks. I believe teamFC3S.org has the codes.

If you have an '87 or '88, that's another story. Your ECU is just plain Stupid! It stores no error codes, so unless you are having the failure right at that point in time, there are no error codes. If there are more than 1 error code, you only get the lowest one! You can't read 'em with a voltmeter. You need Radio Shack LED's. For more info, go to 2ndgenrx7.freeservers.com. Select Technical Information, then select Reading Error Codes.

Peace!

Yeah you also need to reset the ecu on pre 89's by unplugging the battery, after you've tested for them. The '89-'91 ecu is 6 times faster than the '88.

Here is a good site that tells you what to do and has the ECU codes.

The later fuel injection system is TOTALLY different - short answer, no, you can't use the later ECU.
