how do i remove the ignition lock?

i just got an 87 GXL a while back. the body is quite strait which is really all i was worried about. i have now figured i might as well not waste a good car too so i've decided to make it into a drag car since i have no title. i also have a smaller problem which is, i have no key. how do i remove the lock. i've already got the back of the switch off so i can turn the car over with the switch and all. i just need to get the lock out so i can steer it. let me know if any of you all know how and put down some info here. thanks! Dave

get a copy of the factory repair manual and that should tell you. although about a hundred dollar investment, it is worth its weight in gold if you are doing major modding like you talk about

There are two screws that hold it in. They do not have a slot for a screw driver. I used a dremel tool with a small cutoff blade and notched them. Used a screwdriver to finish removing it.
