Question about aftermarket EMSs and emissions

I posted this in the Haltech forum also, but it doesnt seem anyone really visits there much. Anyway, I just bought a Haltech E6X for my FC. However, it kind of slipped my mind that I need to pass an emissions test every year. Am I going to have any major problems with this? Im still running the airpump, cat, and all emissions equipment, but what will become of all this once the haltech is in?

From what I've heard/understand, you can have different settings for different things. Like you have your performance setting, and then when it's emissions time your emissions setting. I've also heard you can pass emissions easier with a standalone because you are able to control everything a lot better.

But what about control of the equipment, such as ACV, BAC, etc? Also I will not be able to control all the emissions solenoids, and EGR, correct?

I don't believe you can control those solenoids, but all you need to do is run the car a bit lean and with alot of alcohol (ethanol or methanol) in the tank. You should pass...just drive it gently till you can run richer and put gas back in the tank.

if you have a visual inspection you will never pass...
unless you you have someone that allows you to do it if the car passses the emissions test...

No visual inspection, just gotta pass the sniffer. I live in a pretty backwoods area, and know most of the people at the place I get my inspections done. Im sure I could get them to give me a sticker even if my car was on fire... but I'd like to be all legal.

Hmmm yah I never thought about controlling all that stuff. Don't pour alcohol in your tank, honestly I think that should be a very very last resort, and not even thought about for a turbo. Only suggestion I have is to ditch all the emissions junk and when testing comes around, put in your cat/air pump and run hose straight from the air pump to the split air pipe that goes to the car. This would go around the acv (which is gone) and easily let you pass. But you should only leave it hooked up like that to the cat for testing, because it will kill the cat. I know you said you wanted it to be legal, but if you meant all the time then I dont know what to say heh.
