I think the rx7club has it's seasons for the most asked questions. This season must be how to lose the afm while last season was how to make your bov loud and the one before that how to make your car shoot flames.

Only available for the s5 turbo II.

As a sidenote they were also rediculously expensive as well as rare, for the same price of a vpc you could probably have a stand alone.

i have a project for the RX7 club.

All the AFM does is send a signal to the ECU. if we could find a MAF sensor that send the same or similar signal then you should be able to just swap them out and maybe make minor adjustments. theres got to be some AFM that relays a similar signal. lets find it. just go around and test them out with a fan and multimeter or put it on yur car. it might take a while, but if we can find one that works itl make a lot of people happy in the pants.

^^ it's been tried. a couple years ago there were a whole group of people trying to adapt a mustang MAF to the 7. it seemed like they were making progress, but then it fell through.

If you think it's so easy, why don't you do it?

The thing is people think the AFM is such a restriction.
It isn't that much of a restriction.

HOW MUCH POWER ARE YOU LOOKING TO MAKE?

Stock ECU's with stock AFM's are making 300hp to the wheels (on a DynoJet) pretty easily.
You trying to make more power than that?

If you're looking to make more power than that, it's highly recommended to go stand-alone EMS.

Trying to get cheap will bite you in the ***.

You already have a full exhaust and intake installed?
If you don't, you're overthinking your mods and the AFM is the last thing you should be worried about.

^^ its not the hp, AFM only work properly when they are level. i want something that isn't affected my lateral G-forces.i hate it when by car bogs or uses too much gas on heavy acceleration. especially up hill. also, with stiffer suspension your car is shaking a whole lot more which isnt good for an AFM. i also hate how AFM look. they are huge and ugly. if you had a choice between an AFM or a MAF, which would you choose?

i do have full exhaust. and a new filter.

naw, ON HILLS. washington is very hilly, and if youve ever tried to get up a steep hill in a hurry, you'll find that you sometimes dont have the power you should have.

I used to do a lot of "touge" racing, and I never had that problem.
I think you're looking at another problem other than the AFM that's causing your hesitations.
In fact, I have a TID mod which tilts my AFM about 20-degrees, and the car still runs fine.

plus the afm is spring loaded and up and down it isnt affected side to side maybe, but you could just position it in a diagonal way to make it unaffect by most G forces and it sounds other than the AFm causing your problems as ted said. maybe fuel starvation?

well as long as the range is the same you could use a pot to tweak the voltage output my chevy truck has one that works off of vacume as the intake air passes by it make different amounts of vacume I'll check some electronics places and see what kind of variable vacume switches they have ,I hate the look of the afm also
