It is a 2 and 1/8 socket. get a large breaker bar too. Mazdatrix sells a tool for it for about 40 dollars shipped.

I use a REALLY big socket, a breaker bar, and a mallett. But in your situation, we have gotten them off by heating them up, and using a chisel and a hammer to hit the corner of the nut.

When my friend and I removed his, we bought a 1" or so iron pipe to put behind the flywheel (against the counterweight and engine, to prevent the flywheel turning), got a big 3/4" breaker bar and put a 4' bar on the end of that. In total it was a 5 1/2 foot bar, and we had a 200 lb guy stand on the end. That got it off.

ive done it in the car, and out of the car, both times using a breaker bar with a metal pipe extension, when it was in the car i had to brace against a friend and kick the bar, out of it i had to jump on the bar. Block the flywheel from turning anyway you can, i made a stop bad out of a 1/4 inch iton bar, just drill out the holes for where the clutch mounts on an manual, or the counterweight on a auto, make sure you brace it agains the goround and not the side of the car. The auto version requires a little bit of grinding to get the stop bar to fit around the nut make sutre you have atlest 2 bolts, 3 is better but im not sure if its possible

Yeah, SEARS for the socket, and as for the nut I used an airwrench (HA HA)

As for me.. I made a ghetto flywheel nut breaker-looser-thingey. I used it when the engine was on the ground.

Basically got a 4-foot long piece of angle iron, drilled two holes in it so that I could use flywheel bolts to bolt the "tool" to the flywheel. Bolted it on, laid that sucker on the ground (with the engine on the ground also), took a 52mm 3/4" socket attached to a 18" sliding wrench (kinda hard to describe, basically an 18" long bar with nubs on each side to prevent the actual socket attachment from coming off). Put that sucker on the flywheel nut and STOMP on the nut. After one or two tries it loosens right up, I was amazed. Worked twice so far.

6ft pipe on the end of the breaker bar. If you cant get the nut off by doing that you are going to have to cut it off.

I'm a huge fan of air tools. Impact is the only way to go. Easy off, easy on.

i got my socket at oriely and use a 1 inch impact on it....came right off.....although i had to take the engine to a shop to get the fly wheel off cuz it was stuck something fierce. they heated it up with a torch and used a pully puller...a big one
