How do I disconnect buzzer

Could use some help on how to disable the ignition key/door open/seat belt buzzer (90 FC). I've felt all around under the dash with the buzzer going off and have not been able to put my hands on the thing. If someone could tell me what it looks like or the area to look I could get it.

Thanks

Well, on S4s it's part of the CPU (driver-side kick panel). Probably the same on S5s. Check the FSM.

Let me know. I've a Ford Windstar that I'd like to murder the CHIME on. Why? Because I want to open the darn drivers door, turn the key on and listen to the radio and not listen to a damn chime, chimming. It's too stupid for words. I need no chime to let me know the door is open. I have situational awareness and have NO need for chimes and buzzers.

Chimes and buzzers are for people who don't know what the heck is going on around them. Same with airbags. No airbag is needed if a seat belt is used. There is NO advantage of airbags vs seatbelts. IN fact a airbag is useless unless a belt is also used. I'm forced to pay extra for items I would not elect to pay for if given the choice. These items are for the brain dead clods of the world.

So. There.

I really don't like the buzzer going off when I have the door open and the ign on. Now I've got a new problem, the seat belt warning light in the warning panel stays on even when the belt is connected (the buzzer does stop though ?).

Unless you aren't concerned with neck/spinal unjuries that may have some truth. A shoulder strap doesn't stop the neck from snapping forward in a head on impact. An airbag does.

Have you ever seen a head on crash in slow motion...?

Why would you spread such dangerous misinformation?

1. disconnecting the buzzer will NOT stop the seat belt from working, I just did mine last week. (91T2)

The bezzer is located in the CPU, it is the black box behind the dead pedal nsxt 2 the fuse box.
Remove the kick panel 3 push pins this will expose the CPU, disconnect the 2 plugs 1 @ the top & 1 in the middle of the CPU, remove the 10mm nut @ the top of the unit, carefully remove the unit & unplug the harness @ the bottom.

U will hve 2 seperate the CPU, remove 3 small phillips screws that hold the unit together & with a small flat screw driver pry the unit apart. Once the unit is apart look 4 the black cylinder with a small hole down the middle. Don't b discourage u r almost there, with a small soldering iron carefully remove the buzzer from the board.
NOTE: do not disturb or break any of the copper strips that form the connections on the board. Do the reverse to complete the job, if u r 2 scare to do the job drop me an e-mail i will talk u through the process.
Estimated time 2 complet the job 1hr 15mins.

In general, I agree with you, Hailers. My on going joke with my 16yo son is that I am yanking the airbag out of his car and replacing it with a bunch of sharp 10" long steel spikes. Then he can drive it as fast as he wants, while looking through those spikes aimed at his brain. Talk about making him into a careful driver!

However, I was involved in the following situation last month. I was driving eastbound in the left lane of US80 East between Dallas and Terrill TX, in the left lane in my Tundra @ 75 mph. The Sentra in the right lane, right beside me, drifted onto the shoulder, then scraped the guardrail. Sparks and noise should wake up the sleepy driver, right? I slowed, expecting him to whip it back into the lane, maybe over-correcting. Instead, he drifted slowly back into his lane, then drifted back into the guardrail. More sparks. He looked like a comet with a tail. As I watched fascinated, again he drifted slowly back into the right lane. Then, he exited down the exit ramp at the end of the guardrail-except that there WAS NO RAMP! He drove down the embankment and across the service rd. He never hit his brakes. Then he crossed the service rd and took out a wooden utility pole and a grove of small trees. The trees took out his battery and his lights went out. I assumed he was dead as a mackerel wrapped around those trees. All the traffic on 80 East was now stopped. I headed down the bank, (4wd) and saw the car upside down on it's top a long long way past the initial impact with the pole. The car traveled another 150 yds past the pole tracking straight, then skidded and barrel-rolled another maybe 100-150 yards. By the time he stopped rolling, he had passed another utility pole and was next to another. He had rolled and tumbled 300 yards after the initial utility pole impact. This dude had to be dead, dead, dead.

I have had lots of emergency first aid training complete with situational response simulations so I was thinking, Man, I don't want to have to deal with this dead/nearly dead guy. There was lots of light smoke coming the windows, glass and debris was everywhere.

Then, the guy crawls out and says, swear-to-God, "Can you help me find my I-Phone?" He had a small cut on his forehead and a small cut on his forearm.

I dunno how many airbags are in a Sentra, but they all deployed and saved this kid's life. Seems he had either a diabetic coma or an epileptic fit and passed out.

Pics or it didn't happen. The last pic has the driver in the lower right corner, checked shirt. Pic quality is pretty ok for cell phone at night.
