How do I.....
This is going to sound dumb, but here goes anyway.
How do you know if you are running the original chip in a '87 series 4 turbo?
Is it easy to view it? Does anyone have a picture of the original?

id say the chance of you having an aftermarkt chip in an 87-88 T2 is slim to none. i know of nobody that makes upgraded ECUs for the S4. some jap companies make some chips and stuff for S5s though. but to answer your question, the ECU is on the pass side floorboard. youll have to pul the carpet up to get to it. then once you pull it out youll have to open the ECU box itself. i dunno what does what in there so your own your own from there.

Pop open the ECU and loosen one of the IC boards.  The EPROMs are two chips with white stickers and black numbers.  The format is like XXX-XXXX, or something close to it.  If there's an aftermarket chip in there, you'll see a handwritten sticker or something really obvious...

If for some strange reason, you bought an aftermarket chip and there are two chips in the ecu...which one do you put the new chip in?? Sorry, I'm a noob.
