Use a cat?
Actually just find out how the little guy is getting in. Probably a missing body plug. Then if you want to kill it (messy) use a mouse trap. If you don't want it dead, get one of those humane traps so you can let it go later.

use bleach to kill the mold quickly. i had to bleach the **** out of a house with Black mold. use a spray bottle and fill it with a water/bleach mix about 5% bleach and 95 water. its should kill the mold in 10-30min.

... But also remember that you're using BLEACH. Regardless of it's percentage of dilution, it's still going to discolor ****, depending on what you're spraying it on... Check your fields of fire.
I think that Fabreeze does it, as well... Wel. Something akin to it, if not Fabreeze, specifically.

For the long term ... If you take some baking soda and put it under the seats ... It will help control the smell. Mold is tough. Most of the time its what you cant see thats causing the problem. I ended up having to repalce the carpet in my 7 to get the (entire) smell out. Bleach will only kill the stuff thats on the dash and places where you don't want tiedied (sp) mess.
It is a pain and some work - however the carpet comes out ... Seats out, consol out ...exc ... Then you can pressure wash the carpet with a pinesol mixture. That dramatically cut the small in my vert. The turbo II had to get new carpet to get it out.

I actually beat the mold in my toyota. I took out all the interior. I used a plastic tub that 150 gallons, but you can use a bath tub. Fill the tub half way with water (warm preferably), then mix in some lysol or some disinfectant that can be mixed with bleach. You don't need much bleach. I think it 50:1 that it is a disinfectant. I was a little lighter than this thinking the lysol would help. I let it soak for five days. Probably could have done less, but procrastinate, sue me.
I forgot to mention, the day I removed the carpet and seats, i washed everything I could reach, see or squeeze into with a some what strong bleach and lysol solution. then dried everything with absorbent towels. Then spray everything with lysol spray. The headliner, doors, under dash, in vents, spaces between. Make sure it is good and damp with the stuff. I used three cans total. Wait 30 seconds or so then wipe the dash and plastics with soft cloth to prevent discoloration.
Day of the big rinse, hose your seats down, and scrub with lysol solution then rinse well, and scrub again but don't rinse. let soak for 30 minutes or however long it take you to load everything in a truck and take it to the car wash. Bring at least $10 in quarters, i used $12.
Your carpet will need to hang vertically and rinse in the a downward motion overlapping until it is rinsed clean. then you may want to rotate it 180 and do it again so you can rinse the part on top of the truck.
rinse the seats too, but be careful of high pressure hoses, they can tear the fabric.
Anyway, it's a lot of work, but over a year of sitting unused, the Toy is still mold free. and still has a faint pine scent. It is grey fabric and I see no evidence of bleaching. That's because I used a low concentration and mixed in the water first.

You have a convertible, right? Most likely something is leaking rainwater. Could be the top itself, bad weatherstripping, a door that's out of alignment, etc. I have a coupe so I can't comment on this, but don't 'verts have body drains that get clogged with pine needles and stuff? I know this is a problem on Miatas. You could try sitting in the car and having a friend hit the top with a hose, or taking it through a car wash and looking for leaks. Once the carpets are soaked, they can take a really long time to dry out in a closed car, hence the source of mold.
You definitely want to fix the source of the problem because water laying in the footwells on a long-term basis can lead to rusty floors.
