Sending fuel injectors for sonic and flow cleaning is a waste of time. Identical results can be achieved by running through a couple tanks with the proper fuel injector cleaner.

A couple years back I took a set of 8 primary fuel injectors from 4 FC's. I built a bench an checked flow pattern, leakage @ 50 psi, and flow volume. I then had 4 of them sent out, and cleaned the other 4 myself. I then retested them.

There was zero distinguishable difference between all 8 afterwards.

For me cleaning them, I used an ultrasonic bath while pumping the proper detergents through them on 2.
For the other 2, I ran through 3 tanks of cleaner through normal driving.

Results were identical.

The trick is to select the proper **** to throw in your tank.

Never buy fuel injector cleaner in a bottle. Its massively overpriced for what it is, and far too weak to do any good.
All fuel injector cleaners are made out of the same basic chemicals- you can determine this from looking at any of their MSDS's:

Tolulene/Xylene, Acetone (A ketone), Methanol, Ethanol, Hexanes, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, and some amine detergents.

All of these chemicals are available at any paint store.

The most effective chemicals at stripping gum, varnish, and engine carbon without harming nylon or rubber in the appropriate quantities are:
- Tolulene
- Methanol
- Acetone

So, grab the 3 of them and mix them together with:
- 500mL (1/2 Quart) Acetone
- 500 mL Methanol (more commonly found as methyl alcholol, methyl hydrate, or wood alcohol. AMke sure there is no water content)
- 8L (2 gallons) Tolulene.
- 5 oz. Premix (these chemicals do not self-lubricate like gasoline).
- 50L gasoline (fill up the remainder of the tank)

Tolulene has an octane rating of 114, Methanol around 100, and Acetone around 150, so you can goahead and drive the **** out of the car if its turbocharged without any worry of running lean from the slight increase in AFR's from the methanol.

Scathcart-
This certainly is something i've not seen anywhere else. It is therefore scary.
But of course, anyone who's driving an RX7 these days is into doing the unusual/unknown.
Anyone else care to comment on the above mix?

Tolulene is frequently run by forum members to increase their fuels octane rating. Acetone and methanol are nothing new to fuel additives.

Its nothing scary; its exactly the same as whats in ANY bottle of fuel system cleaner. This is just running more volume of it.
