Cool how did I get hooked on RX7?

All my life I wanted an rx7, now I am 70 and have two and a 74 rotary station wagon, The local cops love me! pull alongside , turn my cap around and rev up , then let off when they jump and grin.

I hear you on the getting hooked thing. I was 16 when my dad got me a '86 base model. Then when I was 18 I bought a '91 TII with my money (Never sold the '86).

There is just something about being unique!

Now I dream about what plane I am going to have that is rotary powered!

I agree being original is a big thing for me. An RX7 is a great way to be different, not alot of people know about them besides their name. Not alot of people know what a rotary is much less how it works. I don't understand why other people buy Integras and Civics, they are just like everybody else. Thats how I fell in love with these cars.

At first I was into mustangs but they kept breaking down and everybody and their mom had one. I finally saw an rx-7 and decided to get one. Althought the 86 gxl had 200,000 mi. on it. The ride was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Engine blew so I bought one with low mi. Sweet!

i was 12 and my dad had a charcoal grey 79,,it was the first 5 speed i ever drove,,and he was like "just let out easy and give it a little gas" needless to say i torched the tires in first,,,but that was the coolest thing i had ever done up to that point,,so that is what got me hooked on the 7

I first bought a champagne 88 GXL back in the winter of 98-99 and I loved that car. I first fell in love with them when I saw one on the highway when I was out driving my Mazda 626. When the 626 died I scoured the papers looking for an RX-7 and bought the first one that was in my price range. She turned out to be a champ too. I'm in the process of selling it, but I still need to do some wrench turning on it before it leaves my hands. I felt the urge for more power after I drove a 93 FD, so i was on the lookout for a TII model. I found one in mint shape back in June and added her to the collection. She's now in the process of getting some modifications for better handling, better reliability and more power!

I got my 86 GXL from a local junkyard this Fall, thinking to drive it for the winter and maybe tear it down to put the drivetrain in my '71 Triumph Spitfire. I still don't have the damn thing running right. Turns out the motor is toasty. (Funny how a blown 13B will light the tires and do 90 down the freeway.) Now I've got a second RX (I think it's a GTU. Came from the dealer stripped down) that my buddy wrecked. I'm stripping this second car down to resurrect the GXL. Damn these things are addictive!!

It was love at first-site, I pass by the dealer and saw this black sport car. I said that a killer car, then came home. About 10 minutes later my father comes home speaking about the black car he saw in the dealer down the road. then we decided to go and take a look at it. the next thing that i remember is test riding it and buying it. HAAHAA

I'm a techy geek. I first heard about and saw a rotary engine in my grade 9 intro automechanics class. I thought what the hell is this small Mazda thing. Can't compare to the performance of the america V8s. Boy did I ever change my mind when the FD came out. I kept reading about rotaries and became fascinated by them. Anyways I bought an 86 base in 97 and flooded it. Thought that it was dead and tore the engine out (great learning tool) but unfortunately I never really got to drive it. Just bought a 90GXL and sold the 86 for $15 to junk yard. I am very ashamed, if I knew about these forums I would have given it away to someone who would have taken care of it. Please forgive me guys.

Honestly, the first I had ever heard of a rotary engine was from a friend after we went and saw the Fast And The Furious. I was driving around town this last August, and saw a beautiful red rex at a used car dealership. The next morning, she was mine! For the first week I called the engine a "turbine" engine till a knowledgible friend informed me it was a rotary. Now 5 months later, all I ever think about is my rex, and I consider a picture of a 20b as ****! God I love 7s!!!!!!

I got my car (87 N/A) purely by accident. One friend told me that his friend has a funny car in his garage. So i went to visit him and right away bought the car. And I am lucky to be 1 from 3 owners of rex in our country.

LLman.

Well when I was 16, I went to the car lots like everyone else. I almost bought a 84 Fiero LOL But the sales guy was like I got this 80 Rx-7 over here, why dont you drive that 1. So i was like OK, took it for a little spin, I wasnt about 2 blocks from the car lot when I was like 'holy ****' whats under the hood of this thing? SO I poped the hood and was like what the hell is that? Seen piston motors all my life and I was like man that is so cool. Needless to say, 10 minutes later I went back to the car lot and was buying it. Ever since, I have had an Rx-7. I am now the proud owner of 3 an 80, an 85 and an 88 vert

Wow. I'm just learnin about RX7's. I knew about them, but never really put any thought into buying one. Searched on ebaymotors and found how cheap they sell for. Granted I'd need a new motor, it was just too good of a car to turn down and get a 240sx (second on my list) instead. Soon enough I will be owning an RX7. I have a feeling that it will only be followed by another.

When I was little I was given an RX7 book as a gift, and since i loved cars I memorized everything about that book. Then my uncle got one, and I can remember everytime we went to visit him all I wanted to do was see that car. That car is now mine and I couldn't be more pleased. Now I just wish I could find that damn book!!!!
