How common for a Mech OMP to break?

Well I am very nervous about putting on my OMP onto a brand new rebuild.

It came off my previous engine and ran fine.

The thing that worries me is that when I reinstalled it the inside plug came out and I pushed the stuff back in.

I noted the way the VERY small washer went in and placed it in almost in the exact position it went but is it possible I broke anything by that center plug/tube thing coming out?

I would just go ahead and put on a block off plate for the OMP and go premix. I didnt want to do it at first but belive me premixing will give the engine a much better life

I drive this 64 miles a day meaning I will fill the tank up almost every other day.

Premixing at that inteval will most likley end up with me forgetting. So that's not an option.
