Like having VTEC on all the time.

Loss of torque at low RPM's, no more gain than working stock at high RPM's.

That's the short version of it anyway.

above the exhaust manifold. Two actuators turn them.

I have done both open, both close. You most def will feel it. Meaning, what they are saying, very slow accerlation and boggy. I have only seen it accelerate faster when its past 5000 rpms, and I don't think its any faster than before I thnk you just lose the bogginess. I currently have one port open, and one closed. I have done this because they don't actuate. I eventually make the run of the pump like S5 engines. Its just my next project after I put a miata short shifter in. My current shifter its all lose, and I miss shifts to much and grind gears.

If you just hold them open, you will get absolutely NO benefit whatsoever. None. You will only lose lower rpm and lower load power not to mention economy. You will not accelerate faster. You will accelerate slower. Why do you want to do this? Do you just want a slower car?

If you want them open full time, the only way to do it and get any benefit at all, is to remove the intake manifold so you can remove the actuators and sleeves completely from the airstream. This isn't a simple job and if you don't even know where the aux ports are, you are not going to be able to accomplish this. Even if you do, you'll still lose low end power and acceleration in exchange for picking up maybe if you are lucky less than 10 more hp on the top end transitioning upwards from about 5K rpm and peaking before 8K. If this isn't a 100% dedicated race car that will never ever see any use on the street whatsoever, I have no idea why you'd want to do this. You'd be better off if you just pretended you'd never heard of it.

If they work, don't **** with them. Simple as that. I have them wired open on my FC and it sucks. My split air pipe was rusted away and I have no cats to create enough exhaust pressure, I was going to work on an alternative way to open them, but I never got around to it.

But seriously, leave them alone. There is absolutely no benefit to it at all.

they are CLOSED at LOW RPM for a reason, so leave them closed...
they are OPEN at HIGH RPM for a reason, so don't keep them closed..

i see you say you have an exhaust leak under your name, is this why you want them open, not enough back pressure to open them ( i see from your profile that you have 87 so s4 so opens from exhaust pressure)

fix the leak it may fix your 'problem' if that is what it is

also next time mention that you have an s4 NA so that people know what kind of car they are answering questions for

you will find that if YOU want to know the answer to a question
if YOU do a little leg work and help out the people that know the answer then MAYBE you will get an answer....

and for future reference try SEARCHING, all you have to search for is 6 port mod, or wire open I am sure you would have found it

also the FAQ, the first few posts at the top of the section,
yea there is a link to download the FSM - factory service manual
that will not only tell you how to test the actuators but where they are and what they look like
