housing wear??
Well after searching ,and reading about cerment coating(I thought about doing) I've decided to stick with the stock chrome finsih ,but I'm using re used housing(mileage unknown). Well my question is there a way to get a idea on the amount of miles on them? Or if the chrome layer going to be very thin?
Thanks

...94% correct.
if in doubt:
...take them to a dealer or certified mechanic for inspection.
...consult the FSRM and inspect them propperly yourself.
...go ahead and buy new ones.

I wouldn't take it to the dealer. The FSM/dealer expectations and specs are way more worn than many builders would consider "good" housings. Useable, sure, but good?
Check for chrome flaking along the outside, check for scars/scoring, check for wear marks/nicks/dings/etc. Post detailed, in focus, pics and get the opinion of people with more knowledge if you still can't decide.
