hotter spar plugs?

does useing hotter spark plugs really help? If so how high do I go on an '88 n/a with little more than standard mods? Should I adjust the timing. Right now I am going with the RB suggestion of 10 deg

A plug that is too hot can cause pre-ignition of the fuel charge and damage apex seals.
