Hot Intercooler Piping?

Well I was driving my car all day and not had a problem. I put a FMIC like 2 weekends ago and has been fine since. I drove around without a front bumper for a little while, but finally put my front bumper this past weekend. I have a 30.5x12x3 intercooler core. I put a GP Sports Front bumper that I had from the past and today I was driving back to school and the car got a little warmer than usual. So as soon as I got to school, I popped the hood and checked all the piping and they all seem fine from the throttle body to the other end of the intercooler. But the piping right off the turbo was HOT! Only the pipe right after the turbo in the engine bay. The piece that connected to the intercooler on the side of the turbo was cool.
Any ideas? How does or what causes intercooler piping to get hot? I was thinking maybe my front bumper could be it, since it covers half of my intercooler, but just today I noticed. I drove my car yesterday for the first time with the front bumper and it was fine. I drove it to school this morning and it was fine and back home. As soon as I started getting closer to school I noticed the temperature getting warmer. I also have a dual alternator pulley, would that help out any?

Are you talking about water temps or air intake temps? Either way a dual pulley won't do anything to help.

If you are talking about air inlet temps getting hot, you can try wrapping your piping above the turbo side with some heat sheild.

If you're talking about water temps, replace your water pump or drill holes in your termastat. If that doesnt work upgrade your fan.

its always gonna be hot on the turbo side. i wouldnt worry about it as long as piping from the turbo all the way to the intercooler isnt hot. if your really worried just wrap it in header wrap

yes, it will be hot on the turbo side, the other side has been cooled by the intercooler so it is cooler. maybe consider cutting into your bumper a little if the intercooler is halfway covered, but that's your perogative.

what part of the intake pipe?? if you look at the physics part of the issue, compressed air creates... you guessed it! heat! thats the point of an intercooler, to cool the heated compressed air. what size is the pre-I\C piping? 2-1/4 inch? larger piping will help a bit, but with a stock turbo its not needed.
also wrapping the pipe will keep the engine bay temps down a tiny bit, but i'd be more concerned with wrapping the downpipe.
is the fan still the stock clutch fan?

Nope I have an electric fan, 2.5 Intercooler piping for my FMIC, and a 60 trim. Not counting my other mods. Could compression surge cause this? Cause my BOV is messed up and doesnt work properly. Doesnt vent/open at all.

Let's not start a debate about wether or not a BOV is necessary, your piping is hot because of the phyical laws thermal dynamics.

for bov problem, check where your getting vacuum.. mine works off the throttle body nipples and not the uim nipples...
but still, the heat isnt something thats is really a problem, unless its still hot after the I/C core or if the piping is glowing red.

Oh its doesnt glow red at all. I know I have a leaky BOV and I just ordered one. So I guess the bov can cause this?

1. pipe is supposed to be hot dont worry about it
2. put the stock fan back on or make sure the electric fan is big enough and has a good sealed shroud..

Pressure makes air hot. Even on a perfect 100% efficient turbo from NASA the air would get hot. That's why you have an intercooler.

LOL! I have a HUGE electric fan. it covers the entire radiator, well besides the corners because its round. Hahahaha!
But what about my front bumper covering half of my intercooler? Do you think it could have anything to do with that?

i'd still put the stock fan back on. e-fans are nothing but trouble.
how many CFM's is your e-fan?

e-fan's are fine, nothing wrong with them and nothing wrong with the stock fan either... both have their advantages and disadvantages. let's not open a new can of worms.......why am I even typing this. your car is fine. intercooler pipes get hot. yes, obviously your 2 1/2 ft. wide intercooler is going to be somewhat obstructed by the stock fender, because that thing is freaking huge I wouldn't worry about it, but in the future you may want to consider an aftermarket fender or hacking up your stocker. your BOV is not the issue here either, it will have zero effect on temps.
