hot air blowing out cool air?

ok I have an overheating problem that I think (hope) can be solved with a new water pump. However, I have another problem where my vents, when turned on hot, blow out cool still. Will that also be solved with a new water pump or is it something else?

probably a bad air mix motor or Logicon... but could also be a bad heater core.

That would not be fixed by a new water pump, unless the current water pump is not working at all.

Not only does it come out cool but it doesn't come out as much...like it's a very faint cool air.

I read in haynes the way to test the water pump was to squeeze the upper rad hose and after letting go you should feel some sort of pressure. After I felt absolutely nothing, I figured it was bad. I guess I'll replace that and see if I have to do anything else.

if your overheating you usually have an air gap up in your heater core. have you done a coolant flush lately? or any other coolant system repair?
